If your machine shop doesn't have these spec's or has experience with IDI heads.... I would not let them do the work. This is very different than a SBC head. You should NOT have to give the shop spec's, they should have them. If they don't, my guess is they don't have experience with IDI...- hesutton

The top of the ZF5 made contact with my bullnose floor pan. With a body lift it might clear but the bullnose boot would have to be made to work with the larger diameter ZF shifter. Otherwise, I have no idea how his bullnose pan fit over the ZF. I had lots of pics of this on webshots, but that...- hesutton

Forgot to mention, the floor pan does NOT have to be from a diesel. You can use the floor pan from any truck of that era that had a ZF5 (gas or diesel). Heath- hesutton

Floor pan is a must have. Your ‘85 transfer case shifter goes through the pan. On ‘87-‘94 is goes through the side of the trans tunnel on the cab. So, like started earlier, you will have to cut an opening for your transfer case shifter in the ZF5 compatible floor pan. Heath- hesutton

You won't need a different pedal assembly. You have a T19, it won't need to change. Pedal assemblies are an issue when you covert an auto to a manual (T-19 or ZF5). Cross member can be used, but like stated, may need a position change on the frame. I didn't need a drive shaft when swapping...- hesutton

Low boost
I don't know man. If your fuel pressure isn't dropping and is pretty steady, but you are still having power/drivability issues...... I'd start looking elsewhere in the system. It sounds like supply is good now. If you are sucking air, it will act like it. Hard starting, surging and the like...- hesutton

That's what I'm saying. There are more symptoms than boost numbers. The truck will not run normally (doesn't have to be complete stalling/dying/surging), but you will notice more than a change in what the boost gauge reads. This is why I've had a fuel pressure gauge in the cab of my IDI's for...- hesutton

Exactly. Starving the IP of fuel (lift pump, blockage, restriction) has more symptoms than boost changes. Heath- hesutton

Transfer Flow used to make (may still) filler necks for our older rigs that would vent much better than stock and accept big nozzles at big rig pumps. My '86 crew cab has them. Work well. Did home made mods to my filler necks on the '86 F250, works great. But, modified or replaced with...- hesutton

No measurement needed in my case, it was obvious watching the engine run with the trans off. But, yes, the bolt holes for the pressure plate should be equidistant from the edge of the flywheel. Heath- hesutton

Yup, The holes drilled for the pressure plate weren't centered on the flywheel. It cam'ed terribly. Called the guys at SBC and they sent a new one. Heath- hesutton
