Dang it.
My truck will not start when hot. This is the original issue I had with the OEM IP, then the Moose pump and again with the Moose JR and Moose Buddy injectors. I installed this IP last September. It has made it around 10k miles until the same old symptoms showed up.
I emailed Conestoga...
I would leave it setup how it drives nicely and you have the power you want.
On the rare chance you get reported for smoke and have to be tested, simply turn the fuel back down before getting your opacity checked.
I've never (knock on wood) been called in and I drove for a few years with a...
You may want to verify with the Mechanic that he understands this is a 7.3 IDI and not a 7.3 Powerstroke. Depending on his specialty, this will make a big difference.
Jealous! Lemme know if you need to part with it. What a great looking truck.
Should your Kent Moore meter not work you are still welcome to use mine.
I am interested to see what the truck does with a fresh set of filters and the advance jumped.
My Truck registered 3-5% opacity for years. The...
B20 would burn cleaner since the cetane is higher than D2. It would also have a timing advance effect.
It is also slightly less energy dense.
For fun, jump 12V to the advance solenoid and take it for a ride, noting smoke output.
From Mill Creek to Utah County?
Our altitude will definitely affect the smoke production, especially at low boost.
What is your timing set to? I'm nearly positive it could stand to be advanced a couple degrees. I am in Davis County and have a timing setup if you need.
Being that I'm in Davis, I've played all the emission...
I'm guessing this is your first diesel or first time being around them? If so, yes they have inherently more vibration than a gas engine.
The clatter, noise and smell is part of the normal charm of a compression ignition engine, especially one of this design.
The vibration is more apparent in...
Drop the inspection cover on the bottom of the transmission, you will need a 3/8" socket and maybe a ratcheting box end wrench. Check the 4 torque converter bolts for proper torque. They should require a 9/16" wrench and 47 ft. Lbs of torque.
Also check your exhaust near the firewall and where...
The RABS light is ON?
Does your tach work properly?
Check the fuse for the cruise control. If your Truck has had the recall performed the fuse will be in a harness near the master cylinder.
I would definitely have a look at the FIPL and set the voltages correctly.
I would also give your brake lights and brake light switch a look to make sure they are working properly and that the switch is releasing when your foot is off the brake.
4x4? Check for a frozen front axle u-joint.
Jack up one front tire and lock the hub, give it a sharp spin and your issue should be evident. Try this with both sides.
I spoke with Suzy again on Tuesday morning and she assured me an email would be sent this week and my refund would show up shortly after....still waiting and disappointed.
Yep. I've called and talked to Suzy 4 times.
My order was processed...my card was charged on 20 August 2018.
I received my order in a reasonable time and CDI received my core on 17 September 2018.
For a company that has the capability to charge CC's over the phone it seems like it should not...
The safest is to disconnect/disable glow plugs and give a quick shot of ether while cranking.
WD40 is gentler as is holding a gas dampened rag over the intake.
It has been a long while since I've actively posted on the board. In that time the '94 has received some attention.
I replaced the headlights with OEM style housings and replaced both front fenders due to rot in the lower corners.
Pretty nice looking tips after 50k!
All the injectors cracked loose nicely and retained their copper washers.
The truck is running, I took it for a spin and the e4OD is shifting poorly so I'm off to dial in the TPS.
I've had the block heater plugged in to keep the engine hot, currently...
