'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

Here is the PN I found for the IDI-T oil bundle. I have not seen a mention of fin count anywhere...it would be awesome if they updated all coolers to the 30 fpi.

Yes, I originally ordered a 7.3 powerstroke bundle and it is too long overall and the backing rings for the O-rings are welded in the wrong spots. I then ordered a 7.3 IDI cooler off of Ebay and it is not a direct fit either. I can probably make it work but it has the standard, non-turbo oil...

Ocnorb, it was great to meet you. Thanks for the manifolds, they look great and will be put to good use! Anyone have a source for a IDI-T specific oil cooler bundle?

I have nearly all of the pieces to put this engine back together (except the engine). I am looking for a set of exhaust manifolds. Both sides had some decent cracks along the bolt holes and the webbing. Are the Dorman's any good? The reviews are not great and I really would like this to be...

Having the turbo checked out is a great idea...only money right? Picked up the old battered core today, I'm going to send it to Promar anyway, perhaps they can help another 7.3 live on.

    Dang, so sorry!

Not quite yet. I think that is the way I'm heading but I'm spooked by them being so far away. Research shows that I shouldn't have anything to worry about but there is a lot to be said for being able to swing the Truck past the local machinist that did the work. I feel bad for the builder here...

New jewel has arrived. Promar 7.3.

Goose, still happy with the Promar? I am looking at the possibility of using them for my build.

What a kick in the balls. USPS just delivered my PSD oil cooler...they must know i don't have a block to slap it on. The IDI cooler is 15" long and the PSD is 15.5" long. I have yet to see if the headers fit.

He said the crank and rods were salvageable. He torqued the caps on to check for the option of line boring the block but too much had to removed before the lash was gone on the timing set.

Thanks Wes! Have you shipped to UT before? 84108? That's gotta be a painful transit bill.

Bummer news on the Ford. Both heads are cracked and unusable. Main bearings spun in the block and rendered the block unusable. Rod bearings are seized to the crank. The rebuilder has been looking for another rebuildable engine but had come up empty. Thoughts? Anyone have a strong/viable...

I think you guys are right that the PSD is a tad longer. My IDI is exactly 15". I really hope the PSD will work as is. If not, I'll try latheing a bit off the ends.

I found the big pieces...unfortunately most of it ended up in the oil cooler. Since I can't verify that all of the metal is removed, does anyone know for sure if a PowerStroke bundle can be used in place of an IDI-T bundle?

    Some injector trivia

All I know is that if you pinch off the return leaving the top cover of the IP the engine will shut down. For such a "simple" mechanical design our fuel system really does have a lot of action going on.

    OBS cruise control quit

The wiper switch can be cleaned by popping off the little black end cap, removing the screw and purging all the junk out from the little spring loaded ball and speed detents. The cruise recall is not an entire harness or switch replacement. They add an inline fuse. I would check the connection...

The engine is stripped, aside from the rear cover, front cover and damper. She's headed to the rebuilder tomorrow! How do those covers pop free from the crank? There was several ounces of metal fines in the bottom of the pan and a coiled up ring...oil control ring? Other than that debris I...

No. I removed all the cooling components and hardware from the engine today. The oil is definitely silvery but I didn't have any chunks fall out of the drain hole or oil cooler. I plan on examining the oil filter later. I think what lies under the oil pan will be telling...even the lobe that...

I sure appreciate everyone's insight in this. It is a bummer for sure. I spoke with a local rebuilder and he quoted around $4,500. What are the replacement items I should insist on? For the Utah fellas, Jim @ Bakers Diesel has been helpful and he referred me to...
