Hauled this setup into Moab a few hours ago. The Truck did great as did the Smoke Puff Limiter. I am still loving the new tires and highly recommend them.
You are saying that at max fuel, pedal to the floor from a standing start that your pump will not smoke @ 5psi?
Wow, even my stock calibration would smoke when lugging it @ 5 pounds.
I am not sold on BB injectors being the best. I'm thinking of having my Turbo G codes re-popped and shimmed.
No, was hoping the SPL would solve my problem all by itself but it did not.
Back in '92 when the SPL was designed, Hypermax never accounted for a hot IP/Turbo setup. They set the aneroid wafer up with a 5psi full fuel threshold regardless of setting. What does this mean? Well, as soon as 5psi...
I passed!
Those that do not have emission testing don't know how good they have it.
After some adjusting and modifying, the Ford belted out a 2.2% out of 20%. That is a bit better than the previous 64%.
RotBox, you have a few options:
-Turn your fuel waayyy down
-Pull the airfilter
-Run kerosene
-Max out your boost
-Retard the timing to 5ish degrees
I would get a baseline opacity number before dropping any $$ or worrying too much. Don't sweat it, I have been down this road a few times...
-- I apologize for the cross-post, just hoping this is seen without creating a new thread --
I just received my Smoke Puff Limiter, but I did not recieve instructions in the box. There is only the limiter and a sales receipt. I contacted Hypermax and they said they would try to email me a...
I just received my Smoke Puff Limiter, but I did not recieve instructions in the box. There is only the limiter and a sales receipt. I contacted Hypermax and they said they would try to email me a copy...
Does anyone have a set of instructions to post up or a step by step, how-to?
Thanks...
I tried to order one from you via pm but they were full. I hope this helps, it is a bit of cash to lay out if it doesn't.
I used K1 last year but I'm tired of stressing about it and playing their game. This should also help with top end egt's while towing and allow me to pay slightly less...
I just ordered a Hypermax Smoke puff limiter.
I hope it works as advertised and allows me to easily adjust the fuel for testing. From what I've read, I should be able to limit fuel to a trickle and produce NO smoke under any condition. Is that right?
It is that time again for emission testing. The limit is 20% and my Truck blew a 64%. That is a new record for me especially since last year was a 13%.
I am tired of messing around with timing and other tricks to make my truck pass. Will the Smoke Puff Limiter allow me to severely limit fuel...
Have you had it in 4wd lately? My front u-joints will whine for a few miles when it is very cold. It comes and goes with application of the throttle. My joints are new and they still do it from time to time.
Carrier bearing in rear diff?
Sounds like you've got a handle on everything.
I like a few gallons of all fluids, a fuel filter and make sure a spare for the Truck and Trailer are accessible with a jack and 4way to change them.
I keep a serpentine and upper and lower rad hoses.
I predict all goes well and the Ford...
I swapped my OEM filter setup for the 3617, it retains the water drain and water in fuel sensor. Eliminating the lower bowl is nice since it is one less area to leak.
So nothing abnormal when driving or idiling in neutral?
Did you disturb the torque converters position in the transmissions input shaft? If it only happens in reverse I am wondering about the tq converter being engaged properly.
Good eye. Yes, the main staging area is the WC Fairgrounds. They provide breakfast both days and a raffle/dinner on Saturday. The Mayor was in attendance and told all participants thank you for filling up the hotels, restaurants and parts stores. He also told us the LEO's would not be issuing...
The Ford returned the lowest mileage this trip that we have experienced.
I attribute that to several variables: weather was terrible, sleet and rain for the whole way down the State. Also, my fuel blend was light on btu's as I was running lean on oil. The underbody was packed full of slush...
We just finished our annual wheeling trip to the south end of Utah. Once again the Ford hauled all 4 of us, our gear and Toyota's safely for over 800 miles.
We averaged about 6.5mpg. This was pushing hard, trying to maintain the Cummins 75-85mph pace. The new tires were flawless and provided...
Obviously too much timing either way is a bad thing, however, if I unplug my cold advance solenoid on the -5*f days it will not start. It is not just to help it warm up faster.
