    Like others have said you really need to verify what gear set you have before throwing money at it. 4.10's and 35's are a decent combo for highway cruising unloaded. If you have 3.55's your transmission will hate towing that load and it will never be in OD, a turbo won't really help in...

    Another trick to clean up the holes of the Alcoa's is to use a poor man's hone; roll up a red scotch brite pad and chuck it up in a drill. Getting the crap out of the holes makes a big difference once the wheel is clean.

    I have had a good amount of weight behind mine and never felt unsafe. I would recommend paying close attention to your tongue weight if you are going to load up the bed. With 3.55's and NA, I would shoot for no more than 10k of payload.

    Can you hear the fan roaring when it is locked up? If you don't get the "roar" I would suspect the clutch is bad. Have you inspected the clutch spring to make sure it is not packed up with crap?

    I used a long 1/4" extension with a universal and a 10mm deep socket. Don't forget the antiseize during reassembly.

    You are correct. That is why Costco wouldn't mount up a set of 285 Michelin's. In fact they would not even mount up the 265's I originally had on there. 235's only. I think the 285's are a great size for the 4.10 geared trucks as they give some additional run out and require no modifications...

    Aside from a load to the dump the most top heavy load I've had is probably the goose neck trailer...I dont consider that top heavy...not like a cabover camper. Either way they fit good and have an excellent load rating. When I first had them mounted they seemed squishy and a bit squirrley...

    Although I did not intend on using the Toyo tires for dirt duty other than pulling trailers into dirt lots, they did very well even at 65psi. Earlier this month I passed emissions testing in one shot! I still need to post up about the Smoke Puff Limiter.

    Italian Tuneup

    I have run on the governor for 15-20 minutes at a time while loaded in order to pull some of our hills. No issues to report after 100k miles. Our IDI's are rated to run on the governor. The water pump is moving 79 gpm at that speed. In short...let it eat! :)

    I run full synthetic Valvoline 85/140 with a factory cover. Ford specifies a 100k change interval so for me the initial investment in synthetic is justified.

    My truck did the exact same thing until I swapped in some Bilsteins. I tried 2 other types of shocks and neither helped. Long trips with the gooseneck were fine but around town or down the freeway unloaded was a jittery, unsettled mess. My 2 little kids loved it and it would often rattle...
