Unsure what this bundle is supposed to be doing, except for being an oil pressure area. Someone put JB weld over this piece here. Any ideas what this is?

The impeller has seen impacts on the fins, shown here. Still spins without binding, unlike that other banks.

“Does the engine bar over counter-clockwise” there’s movement but it felt like the nut was simply unthreading

I found where the oil supply comes from - there’s a port (not by the CDR) on the bottom rear of the block. Looks like everything is mostly here, just missing the 2 things on the bundle. Yep, free socket lol.

I will search forum after posting this request but is anyone willing to share a photo of their banks sidewinder set up? Theres a bundle in this photo which is missing 2 things

Found a 500 spare parts truck with a (mostly complete) banks sidewinder turbo kit that I intend to swap to my 7.3 this weekend. This red truck’s Motor is locked up - crankshaft won’t budge clockwise And the money shot appears to be missing the oil feed supply. I don’t see a way...

    Another terrible loss..

I’ve been running into unhosted/dead links and other incomplete IDI info a lot lately, so I’ve been buying a lot more IDI print literature. No Crystal balls here but one day there may only be print copies left on niche topics like these once it becomes unprofitable to host the information.

    That’s what I thought, thanks

Using mech fuel pump as an air compressor??

tl;dr can you use a mechanical fuel pump to pressurize an air reserve tank - like for air horns, brakes, or reserve emergency air? The mech fuel pump would sit on the engine block actuated by the camshaft as OEM intended, just but not flowing any fuel. (Side note, PFA, the same 6.9 I pulled...

Comprehensive list of must have tools

Has anyone compiled a comprehensive list of must have tools to keep in/with the IDI’s? Or a list of must haves for long distance travel? I have: Distilled water jugs and coolant A jerry can with fresh diesel A spare battery to run fuel pump Spare mechanical fuel pump Alligator clamps 5/8...

Leaks after installing R&D Fuel Rails

I used generous amounts of Vaseline. Wheel bearing grease might do the trick.

Leaks after installing R&D Fuel Rails

They can be a bear to put on, maybe my problems are because of a botched install, I am not sure. There is a gentleman on the Facebook idi group called Dreggs Diesel that has, At least in the past, sold brass caps for about the same price. I think I’d prefer those over anything else for no...

is there a turbo solution out there that preserves the ease of maintenance that the top of N/A motors have? Not even considering banks (any generation) plus they can’t be rebuilt as easily. Theres the tried and true intercooled R&D idi turbo kit for about $5000 shipped. It uses a stock ford...

May have found potential buyer for one of the T19 diesel bellhousing at $260 shipped. If he falls through, then the offer applies here.

Leaks after installing R&D Fuel Rails

Starting a new thread to document my efforts to resolve my fuel leaks after installing the R&D IDI fuel rails. I have a decent amount of fuel weeping when the truck is running. Not 100% sure where yet. Maybe I could try the UV fuel dye trick. I don’t think it is an issue with the rails...

I found a diesel ZF5 case trans case that has “the middle gears”, all in unknown condition that the gentleman is willing to trade an RPM sensor for. I’m thinking of taking him up on the offer but there’s a lot of research that I need to do on what else would be needed to complete this ZF5...

So what did you do with your truck today?

My 80cc R&D pump purchased April ‘24 is the *only* thing that has made a difference in getting my truck to start like it should. Still using the same old gummed up injectors, still using the same glowplug controller that’s only powering 4-8 glowplugs at a time (depends on whether the glowplug...

Project Thread: 1986 F250 “Farm Truck #1” Build Thread

Moving right along the shakeout phase, now. The new problem of the week is that the truck decided that it didn’t like the fuel block off plate gasket. Sprang a steady leak that new gaskets, larger washers, and even a new block off plates haven’t solved. I haven’t tried dual layering the...
