Seems like reinforcing the T19 before it cracks could be good preventative maintenance. Sounds like I might need to make another bracket. I think welding a broken one and than reinforcing it would be a good idea.
Has anyone consider reinforcing it with aluminum? Instead of a steel bracket...
At the risk of thread jacking my own thread……..
We are looking at a 97PSD 7.3 for my wife, I test drove it it runs mint all the fluids are clean it has some front suspension looseness and bald tires. It has 285K on it and the exterior is almost flawless although the interior is missing a door...
Try using a clear hose from a bucket to feed pump.
Also you probably just need a new pump they are 40 bucks, I made a you tube in how to replace them, and in my experience a good manual fuel pump with good batteries and a good starter primed the entire system from brand new replaced by me in 3...
Here is the new onboard compressor airborn. I found a random scrap suspension bracket that had a right ish sized bolt holes and used a chunk of that for mounting bracket.
Installed 4 new Rancho shocks and it made a huge difference!! All the old ones were to the point where you squish them in and they just never ever come back out. It fixed a lot of my suspension related problems and weird noises……….. now if only my leaf springs were all up to spec.
My T19 has cruise.
Also I tend to be opinionated but I would use yellow metal safe sta lube 80-90 GL4 gear oil. I have been running it for years in all manner of “classic” manual and it is absolutely minty stuff.
I would like to mention (even though it may seem obvious to some) all of these mounts work TOGETHER and if one is bad the others get over stressed and wear out as well, if one is bad the others may not be far behind.
I was driving down the road and smelled every burning fluid imaginable (including diesel) and I started to panic than I saw what I am pretty sure was the same dodge @Jesus Freak saw.
Thank you everyone, fantastic advice as usual. Turns out it’s just user error, I forgot to mention the idle comes up if I hit the pedal once so it turns out I was just supposed to be hitting the pedal to set the fast idle just like I’ve always done with my carbs. Thanks again @chillman88 and...
When I start mine it idles lower than normal and “clatters extra” and goes up when warm, but I can hear a noticeable change when it gets warm and something clicks off is mine somehow working wrong? Hopefully I’m not thread jacking it seemed related.
Maybe worth noting it starts up fine and...
Haha yes all jokes are good I have moved a lot more with mine but I always forget to take a photo. I’ve had some pretty heavy scrap runs so far that was just all I had a photo off.
So I need to get my glow plugs all up to spec for the cooler days so I was thinking of buying this
https://classicdieseldesigns.com/products/non-turbo-location-glowplug-replacement-harness
And what is the part number for the glow plugs to use with that kit? I think that’s all I need to spiff...
