It seems I should be able to simply order a clutch/pressure plate/flywheel and throw out bearing for an 87 6.9 ZF5 truck right? Or should I order one for an 89 to reduce parts catalog confusion potential? Would the 7.3 IDI clutch be fully compatible?
Thanks guys I figured that was probably what I should do, is it a “stem to stern” unit? I was hoping to find some kind of massive plug or something but I never did.
I have some that won’t seal no matter what, I even got the super nifty machined rails from R and D and they still won’t seal. I’m convinced there’s scoring on the injectors or something I can’t see.
Did you put the diesel wiring harness in the gas truck? I’m on the fence about whether I should do that or take a sawzall to the spaghetti. I’m probably going to end up just swapping the wiring but I’m not sure if that’s a massive project just on it’s own.
I got a parts truck! Except it’s too good and now my truck with the bent frame is the parts truck…………. I will be using the nice studded 6.9 out of my 87 to diesel swap this 91.
It’s a gas F350 4 door 4x4 with a 460ZF and a blown up 460. The 460 ran good enough to go around the yard and test...
Yes I can tell by looking at, it’s a few hours away and my 6.2 F350 with a trailer pulls like a train but it’s not afraid to drink some fuel so I am trying to get all the info I can ahead of time thanks guys! I appreciate all the input.
Is there any reason I can’t just steal some axles, glass, and a 4 speed out of this gasser? I have a t19 diesel bell housing in it right now.
Money is a bit tight but I also want to end up better off than I started when I am done.

This truck has been the best truck I ever had and it still starts first crank, however it doesnt have any differentials left. The front is empy and the gears are smooth and the rear exploded violently and dramatically, as the whole truck is rough and the frame is still bent I am left wondering...
The front u joint on the rear drive shaft ran out of needle bearings! I replaced it and we are all good now. I thought I felt a small new vibration. Speedi sleeve was delayed in shipping.
It will be ok, what is too bad is the 97 OBS that we have. It’s clean but it just needs so many things before it’s useable and I wanted it to be my summer driver with AC
I was picking up supplies at the hard ware store and when I came out I saw a big puddle of mystery fluid under the truck, turns out that worm drive lower rad hose clamp that was new but felt “spooky” when I installed it recently let go. Had a spare in the truck and was in the road in a few minutes.
