I think that if one or more cilinders have developed a leak due to cavitation, you always can put a sleeve in that cilinder.

    Get the glovebox out, how?

Well, I opened the glovebox as you are supposed to do, and then I don't knw how to get the lid of the hinges at the bottom (without them breaking off), is there a system or so for?

    7.3 Engine Overhaul

Well, I guess you gave your answer already yourself... Point is, any other engine you buy, you never know for sure in what condition it is. might be better, might be not. With the engine you already have, you know it's past, maintenance etc. So if you go to throw some money at it, you know that...

    Get the glovebox out, how?

ohoh, I found a mice nest in my glovebox. I like to clean all that up, but is there a mistery way to get the glovebox out without me breaking all those very brittle plastic lips and pins? Since all them are so brittle (seems to me) I didn't dare to go wild yet.

    ECU?

Ok, that was what I thought. I thought to link it in here, but just now I see that those things are only for gas engines (at least those who are displayed.) Are they still for sale for diesels as well? Or do I need searching for something else? more trans oriented? (if I can't get rid of the...

    ECU?

At the left foot of the driver, behind the cover and hood-opener sits a metal "computer" box, if your truck, like mine 1989F350 7,3 IDI, is equipped with the E4OD auto trans. is that thing called the "ECU"? and can I just like that order a "remanufactured" one, or is it more complicated?

    Oilfilter thread?

Yes, right, I gonna pay 20$ for a oilfilter, and then 51$ postage, never ever in my life, I don't see why those Ford filters should cost soo much, and one must not forget, here in europe we have some great filtermakes as well! MANN is a german company, that counts for me, then a filter is 5$ and...

    fight corrosion and doorlocks

If only I could get another pair of healty, good doors!, But since I live in France, those will be unobtainium I guess!? apart from that product, would small (maybe copper?) brushes do something? and if so, where could I find such brushes? (I'm terrible on a computer actually)

    fight corrosion and doorlocks

While getting my E4OD trans out, I remarked some corrosion on the pins from the computerbox in the driverside footwell. Now the trans and computerbox is at the transshop, I wonder how I best can deal with it to get the oxidation off of those fragile pins? I also think that this has to do with...

how to go on with my E4OD

Thanks, I already decided (after I watched one of their video's) to outsource the overhaul of my transmission, while first I had the idea to do it myself, and then I realised that it takes experience as that guy has to do it all correct. And as I wrote above, I know certain mod's have to be...

how to go on with my E4OD

well, being a trans shop, it should not be necessary that I tell them their trade, though when I turned my trans in, the appointment was made to communicate well, and he told me that he contact me when he opened the trans to discuss what he found and what he was to do about it, and it's that...

how to go on with my E4OD

This E4OD is a 1989, early model, behind a diesel. I've brought it to a trans repair shop, and he told me to contact me when he opened her up, and together we discuss what to do if mod's were necessary. Until today I didn't hear a thing from them, so I assume when this continues he is gonna...

is this a repair? and what to do with it? '89 F-350 4x4

Thanks for the sound advice. though I'm on the other side of the pond here, and I'm not sure if A) someone selling on e-bay likes to sent it over, and B) Imagine all those costs for "just a pinhole"? I mean; if it was something structural, that would be a different thing. Are these t-cases...

how to go on with my E4OD

I thought that a stock convertor had three discs? And the man at the shop told me he couldn't put more discks in there, but could do something with higher pressure?

And the only way to avoid this disaster is to push the "OD" button in trailer usage and mountainous terrain?

The first big trip after 13 years.

Well, In the meanwhile I've changed the pump seal for a new one, and replaced all the trans oil and filter, but when changing through the gears, it continued to make a silly wishwishwish sound, which I guess comes out of the convertor? This was shortly after I got my truck back home after the...

how to go on with my E4OD

I didn't see it now, But with what I know now from E4OD's and my stupid action, it has to be the lock up part. I've seen that at that time I wrote this as well: "Also I noticed that at about 60 miles at 2000 rpm the E4OD started to hunt, once and a while, about 200 rpm plus, and then back again...

how to go on with my E4OD

My tranny is in a shop now, It's way too complicated for me, and I have not the correct tools to do this. I've seen some specialists, and they convinced me that for a novice this is some gearbox.... They dissected already the convertor, and they told me it was completely burned. When I took the...
