    Project Truck - 89' F250

BTW any tips on installing a new vent window gasket? I could not find OEM so had to order aftermarket off rock auto. I tried this once before and didn’t go so well, I ripped the drivers side and it makes a bunch of wind noise, so have to do that over.

    Project Truck - 89' F250

Truck was off the road for some time, had to send the turbo back to Russ, it wasn’t making as much boost as it should. Turns out some gasket junk made its way down the Y pipe when I pulled the heads. Turbo back on, truck is driving very well. Heck the AC and everything still works. Now I can...

So what did you do with your truck today?

A week ago, I bought a harbor freight work platform thing for $20, to replace the old igloo cooler I stood on while doing hundreds of hours of labor on my truck over the last 2 years. Today, I left the platform in front of the truck, forgot about it, and ran it over. The F250 won.

SEAT COVERS for split bench 50/50 top

I pulled a clean bench out of a '96 F150 for my truck... around $100 from the junkyard.

Mechanic said "I dunno" "makes no sense"

I feel like we get a post like this once every few weeks. How long have you owned it? Does it have a turbo? They don’t really like to go much above 3k rpm anyway. Normally aspirated they’ll belch smoke under load and don’t have a lot of power to start out with. You should install a turbo and...

Hard start when the engine is hot

I pulled and replaced my IP twice before I finally bit the bullet and bought a rebuild from CDD. So that makes 3x replacements. Then I found a bad exhaust valve (#1) and had to tear the whole thing down!

Hard start when the engine is hot

As already mentioned, this is a symptom of a worn out IP. The cheap rebuilds you can find - they just clean the cores up and reseal them, you are rolling the dice if you are going to get a good pump or not. Have you already sent in your core? Before searching reviews I bought one from...

Changing water pump need some knowledge

I could not find the block temp switch for less than $50 so I wired cold advance to a switch in the cab. Definitely seems to run a lot cleaner after start up. I used to fog the neighbors yard in the morning.

    Front crank seal

Came out with a 3 jaw puller Think I just tapped the replacement in with a big mallet. it’s not leaking so I did something right

    I hate TTB axles

Get it back on the rack... Also check the distance between your front bump stops and where they bottom out. On my previous IDI the front leafs were sacked out and it was almost riding on the bump stops, and had a lot of negative camber. IIRC the manual says you can have up to 2 degrees of...

    What else do you drive?

Nothing exciting... a 2010 expedition with the 5.4. Sucks down the gas but with prices in the 1.85 range I don't mind. Before that I had a loaded 2018 Toyota highlander, the first and only car I ever bought new. I had planned on keeping it a long time but I put 40,000 miles on it in 1.5 years...

    Coolant

How would you guys go about flushing the coolant system to change from green to final charge? Drain everything, fill with distilled water, run for a few mins, drain, fill with final charge?

    1994 7.3 going into 1990 F-350- wiring harness questions

thanks. I figured it out and cut all that stuff out. I have cold advance and the glow plugs wired to toggles on the dash. I may add a water in fuel sensor back in later

borg 1356 tailshaft leak and bushing

I pulled my driveshaft a few months ago and replaced the transfer case output seal. Didn't stop the leak, still appears to be coming from that seal area. The driveshaft yoke did not seem to be grooved too much where the seal rides. I need to pull the tailshaft itself off here at some point to...

When I get the new intake finished i'll post some pics of that and the CDD push button glow plug setup. I had a small custom toggle switch panel made from wiringproducts.com for the glow plugs and cold advance.

    Project Truck - 89' F250

Well today was a success. Runs great, very smooth, NO LEAKS. Drove it around 20 miles. Even the AC was blowing ice cold. I fixed that last summer and was happy to see it apparently has no leaks.. still got some work to do on the intake, I put my old one back on. Have a friend helping me with...

    Project Truck - 89' F250

Had a little bit of a setback today. Adding coolant and it starts running out on the ground. Oh crap... A little investigating and it’s coming from the thermostat housing. I was a little bewildered as I definitely had no questions about the gasket mating surfaces, took my time scraping...

    Project Truck - 89' F250

Thanks. Yeah I deleted that some time ago! I have to make a decision here, I am making a new intake and I can either do a CDR on the intake or a catch can + road draft tube. I have stuff for both and I think it would take me the same amount of time either way. any opinions?

    Project Truck - 89' F250

Questions: Anyone know what the 4 pin relay thing does on the IP wiring harness? right now I’m basically reconstructing that harness. The glow plug wires melted the connector and the wires on the harness had been poorly spliced in several places. I made a switch panel in the cab for cold...
