    Flywheel Fiasco

Well, if that is the case I need to find a usable DMF. But, I have never heard anyone explain the added noise from a SMF as what I am experiencing. It makes a ton of racket every time I let off the throttle. Under acceleration, quiet and smooth. It is also twice as loud when cruising on the...

    Flywheel Fiasco

Another video. Under acceleration - no problem. Deceleration, sounds like it has a damn jake brake on there.

    Flywheel Fiasco

Alright. So I know the SMF is supposed to chatter and grind a bit if you are lugging it. I took this to mean that, if you let the clutch out and try to drive around at under 1100 or so, you'll get some noise. Mine is making a grinding noise at idle, in neutral with the clutch in or out. Goes...

    Knocking when cranking

Well if it turns over only wiring issue I guess would be cut off solenoid. Possibly glow plugs if it was cold enough.

    Knocking when cranking

Does it try to catch at all... can you give a better description of the knocking. Any smoke coming out? How cold is it, and do the glow plugs work?

    Flywheel Fiasco

Thanks. I'm going to make them give me a 6 pack and a lawn chair so I can supervise this time.

    Flywheel Fiasco

The saga continues. Rock auto does list the 07225 Luk kit as fitting my '89 F250 4x4 w ZF5. It is in "clutch kits" not "flywheel conversion kits" where I was originally looking. In addition, I found another site, partsgeek, lists this kit as fitting 88-94 models. So, now I have two clutch...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Last week: Used a light compound polish on the paint (turtlewax polishing compound, by hand). Followed with a coat of wax. Polished front bumper with Flitz. Installed new headlights.

Why doesn't my pickup have anti-sway bars?

I'd consider buying one for my '89 4x4. While the sway isn't terrible, I can tell it does not have a swaybar. IMO the reason 4x4's don't have them... leafs are stiffer than a coil/control arm (radius arm or whatever) setup. I used to have an XJ jeep.. (rear leafs, front coils/control arms) and...

How did you get into an IDI?

For a long time I had two vehicles, an Acura MDX as my DD and a 2500 suburban with the gutless 350 TBI. I used it to tow a boat around and do general truck stuff. When I burned the exhaust manifold gaskets out of the 350 towing I figured it was time to upgrade to something that could handle the...

    7.3 idi c6 mpg

I had an 85' with a C6 for a short time. Pretty truck, but I knew after about 3 days of ownership I was gonna have to sell it. I sold it and bought a later model with a ZF5. Buying an aftermarket OD is an option, or swapping the transmission is an option. You'll have better luck finding a...

Need help banks first gen turbo kit

Got one.. and installed it. This is like playing whack a mole, now I believe I am hearing a leak where this pipe connects to the turbo at the back of the engine. I'm not looking forward to trying to get at those bolts. Also, with my exhaust manifold bolts, I simply busted those loose, cleaned...

    Wheel spacers to remove dogtrack

That is what I have as well, and I went ahead and double checked, my wheel manufacturer (american racing) does indicate these non hub-centric wheels fit my truck. Also, all of my other trucks have been "lug centric"

    Wheel spacers to remove dogtrack

Sure about that? My wheels are definitely not hub centric. They use the conical seat lugs to center.

    Project Truck - 89' F250

Pics coming later... new horn, got new headlights and tail lights in to replace the completely faded originals. If I get motivated enough this evening I may get a chance to buff the paint with a little polishing compound. And following up on my last post, I did fix my exhaust leaks in the Y...

    I want to level my 94 4x4

New husky 3480lb springs, sits level. $130 each. For that price might as well get new springs, you get new bushings already installed in them, which may need replacement anyway. I went ahead and replaced the shackles too. My camber is 1 3/4 degrees and it is visibly noticeable (to me anyway)...

    Wheel spacers to remove dogtrack

According to the manual I have, the front wheels on my 89' 4x4 F250 sit 1.25" farther out per side. Looks kinda funny when viewed from certain angles. I'm not sure why they are designed this way. I had an older 2500 suburban that had the same thing, I put aluminum wheel spacers on the rear axle...

Need some help (advice) on front end up keep.

Mine has around 230k on it (not sure how many times rolled over) I replaced all inner and outer tie rod ends, and the center link. Balljoints were okay (no play). That got rid of about 60% of my slop. Then I replaced the steering box, that got rid of the remaining 40%, steering is good and...

    Flywheel Fiasco

I went ahead and ordered a precision kit from carquest for the conversion... $280 shipped on rock auto. Has the 12" flywheel and the clutch is dampened with two sets of springs. Shop says they'll return the clutch I paid for and credit me back. Both advance auto and rockauto sites say it will...
