Drop Down Running or Nerf Bars??

Greetings and Salutations Fellow Oil Burners. Like that? Well, I just got my copy of the 2022 edition Volume 3 LMC Ford catalog with a Blue/White '92 F350 on the cover and some fancy looking chrome drop down nerf bars mounted on...

    Alternator brand options.

O' really? Autolite used to be a decent unit. I suppose now it depends upon the depth of your pocket and the desired warranty time but then again, parts stores are not responsible for the labor.

Help with the charging system in my brother's truck?

"...full of green crust and rust..." Sounds like you found your problem. Electrical theory tells that electricity does not travel through the core of the wire, but on the outside of the wire. Consequently corrosion will impede this flow. Larger wires only have more surface area for flow...

Teflon Oil line to the turbo . . .

So I took the original brass fitting and reinstalled it. Due to the hex outer nature of the fitting and that made it possible to stuff a deep socket onto it for installation. Add a few steel pipe extensions to the top of that and then a 45 degree to angle it away from the turbo. The orange...

    Turbo blanket

I haven't noticed any delay in mine on spool time. Cooler temps on surrounding components sound like a winner. Next question is, any particular recommendations? Fleabay has a few around $30/35 That I could probably make work unless there is a particular one that is recommended.

    First Startup Troubles

Your initial problem of slime might be called biodiesel. You go cheap, you get cheap. White smoke tells me you have something going on. I know you want to go cheap and burn up a starter or two along the way, that's your call. Me? On a budget, never mind the 90 degrees ambient temp, get the...

    Turbo blanket

Okay, playing with the reassembly of the project once more and looking at the turbo as I got the down pipe mounted to the turbo. Oh joy. pulled off the hood latch and laid a length of plywood across the opening, (no radiator) stretched out across that and a prayer sent up. I believe I got lucky...

    Failed Emissions

Date of manufacture on the door is what? Your motor vehicle dept should be abler to give you an exemption on your antique. My local DMV gave me one on my '87 6.9 toy. The '02/94 7.3idiT is under the same umbrella.

Welcome to the Hotel California. You can always check out but you can never leave. Stupid questions? Too late, I already asked most of them. Gilroy. California, I presume.

    Pickle a 7.3 (out of vehicle) ?? ?

The truck is getting the Allison trans stuffed into it and that trans might get me interested in more power later down the road. So the $307 pickle engine is a back up for some time down the road and is not going to get fired without a rework first. Currently the engine is in the back of the...

    Pickle a 7.3 (out of vehicle) ?? ?

I had to get this out of the junk yard as someone else already pulled the radiator on one end and the transmission from the other. 4 nuts and up she come for $307. Currently covered up and strapped down in the back of the truck. I am considering a tape measure and seeing if the block will slide...

    Pickle a 7.3 (out of vehicle) ?? ?

Going to get (hopefully) a spare 7.3 tomorrow. No idea of when OR if it will get built. Spare engine, currently "in case" of a future need. Potential future build beyond stock. Time will tell on that one. How best to pickle this while siting? Nasty used oil? Idealistically, disassemble and...

    Air brakes on F350

Air brake trailers are selling cheap enough to pick one up to carry that 1977 D4d Cat of mine with. No great reason to do it, yet, it's just an addition to the toy stack currently. I suspect the air brake trailer will have better/larger/less expensive brakes than I can install with new disc...

    Air brakes on F350

I used to have a CDL B. I retired and gave it up, somewhat begrudgingly. The truck weighs in at 9500# and the trailer empty is 4K# empty roughly and about 25K# loaded including the trailer weight. Add a down grade and 20,000 pounds of mashed bananas . . . If you know that song.

    Air brakes on F350

The inexpensive trailers is what is getting my attention. Now when I hook up this over sized trailer behind my F350, does this mean I need the CDL A ? CDL = Crash Dummy License. . . .

    Air brakes on F350

So the other day I went through town and saw a Ram 3500 pulling a trailer. He came up to a stop light, hit the brakes and the trailer hissed. Whu? So I did some research this morning, being slightly bored waiting for warmer temps outside and out of money and I found...

    Custom Driveshaft manufacture

I left out the names of the guilty parties. Parts supply might change somewhere down the road and I was impressed with the excess time and the local cost versus getting one shipped in. A front drive line gets used how often? I figure it will last a very long time.

    Custom Driveshaft manufacture

Well here I am slowly stuffing an Allison into a '94 F350. I went looking to get the front driveshaft made due to an adapter added to the rear of the Allison to hook up the BW 1356 transfer case. That made things a bit longer than original. I contacted the local drive line shop and was told it...

    1993 7.3 idi 2wd e4od strange problems

Faulty range selector switch comes to mind real fast. That's just my 2 cents and has been my experience with Ford's better idea with that item on several different models of Ford trans.
