So what did you do with your truck today?

It sure aint perfect but boy howdy is it solid now. I bet it'll be alot quieter in the cab now that it doesnt have a dozen speed holes in it.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Restoration on my 94 super duty is nearing completion on the driver side. next step is to cut out the reinforcing gusset under the floor and weld in a new one and then paint and coat everything thoroughly. Welding in the corner was a real PITA trying to fit my spraymaster in there.

Remington Mod 11 is the recoil blowback semi automatic 12ga isnt it? My buddy has one of those and its a beautiful shotgun. I have a Browning superposed lightning from 1916 and a Browning 520 rapid takedown trench gun from 1919 which are both gorgeous shotguns.

    Failed Emissions

I dunno Franklin, I much prefer having 1 scan tool and 1 method of scanning and accurate scanning for all my vehicles instead of the goofy hoops I have to jump through for my older stuff.

    Failed Emissions

Are you positive about that? I have disconnected the oil pressure sender on multple IDI trucks and never seen a CEL. Also, no cluster I have ever seen on these has had a CEL. Maybe its something different but My trucks do not have a traditional CEL. Also - There is no computer and no way for...

    Clear coat

Rattle can paint, when applied correctly (extremely thin and with many coats) over a correctly prepped surface, can do a pretty good job. I have put many miles on spray painted cabs with no sign of peeling. However, spray cans do not cover much and you will end up burning up a ton of cans. I...

Heres the last heavy plate where I left off this weekend. Going to try and get back on it tomorrow and start closing up the floor. then I get to crawl under there and weld up the cab mount.

More patch work. Most came out really good, a couple came out mediocre but they are welded in solid and should clean up nice enough. All the smaller patches are 1/16" boron steel plate. The vertical piece at the end is 3/16" beveled out so I could penetrate it without burning out the sheet metal.

    Amsoil Injector cleaner

Has anyone used Amsoil's diesel injector cleaner/cetane booster to clean up injectors? Any idea if it helps at all or if its just snake oil? Got a local Amsoil guy I might line up my next oil change with and hes asking if I want to throw in some other products.

So if you do want to do new mirrors, I recommend checking out Finditparts.com I picked up stainless steel and US built mirrors for around 80$ a set and NAVISTAR brand, Built in the USA all stainless frames for 100$ for the pair off this site. I was shocked, the build quality is good, even...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Thats a good idea! Wifey makes paint stencils for her small business. She did a "Rusty But Trusty" one for me to paint onto my fenders when I get around to repainting the truck later this year, maybe I should have her do a wide load one for the rear of the bed too!. I do have amber LEDs...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Running a big trailer harness cable in the "new" truck. I want to path it under the trim piece on the drivers side, up under the dash board. Pulled the trim piece up and the flange under it came with it. Pulled the carpet up and the entire area underneath was caked in wet mud, probably half an...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Also making new tank straps for my rear fuel tank since I couldnt find any that fit my truck. The rear tank had been replaced with a 22 gallon poly tank but the person who did it cut the straps off and replaced them with ratchet straps. These are galvanized steel commercial studs. I have one...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Finally got around to rebuilding my trailer hitch assembly on my F-SuperDuty. 1/2" thick bottom plate 42x24". 4 vertical gussets measuring 1/2"x20". Hitch tube is welded to the square tube top member front and rear and is welded into a "C" channel rear bar which is then welded into the rear of...

    Blue Devil Sealer, now what?

Yeah if hes going to have the heads off and do that level of work, im not sure why a coolant flush would be a point of concern. Thats peanuts compared to the rest of what hes doing.

    Blue Devil Sealer, now what?

"Pretty extensive flush" of..what? Coolant? Its pretty easy to flush your coolant system, not sure why a mechanic would have some kind of concern about it.

    Another option for studs

It would be great if they had any specs listed on the product, only "specs" ive been able to find is "Over 220,000psi tensile strength". So is that 221,000 which would not be super impressive for a head stud or is that 260,000 similar to an ARP stud? Doesnt the logic go, the larger your rims...

yet another E4od issue...trans shop stumped!

That is insane that a transmission shop would try to charge for a full rebuild when the issue was an old filter. This is why I have trust issues.

yet another E4od issue...trans shop stumped!

I gotcha. Are you able to feel the TQ lock? Where in the RPM range does it tend to shift at? There were several RPM ranges made for that TQ that will bolt right up and influence shift points. There is also a way to adjust line pressure to soften the shift engagement but I havent done that.
