    1989 F-250 7.3 Project

Yep. Being an oem part, I had kind of hoped that someone here would have figured out what the part number was, by now. LOL I can't find it anywhere. On edit: The part number is supposedly, F6TZ-2C280-AA. You can find a couple of pictures of parts online using that number that look like the...

The pic I left in there was of the piece that bypasses the RABS valve. Not the power bleeder. :)

    What lube?

Thinking I'm just going to look at tractor supply for the cheapest gear lube for the two pumpkins. Didn't know that about the transfer case. Glad I asked. The shop that did all that work, was supposed to have changed the lube in all 3. Checked the front pumpkin this evening after I finished...

    Spindle questions

Both sides are exactly the same now. So I only videoed the driver's side, because that's where the camera was. I suppose I should take the time to go back and video the passenger side, just out of principle. LOL

    Spindle questions

Here is the seal on the axle, packed with grease, and the area that the seal rides in on the spindle, also packed with grease. Ready to re-install the spindle. With both of those packed full like that, the seal will be sure to trap a bunch of grease in there, and keep it protected for a good...

    Spindle questions

Ok, I am finished with the axles and the spindles. Here is how I mark the yokes for the u-joints before taking them apart. Just a quick file mark on two pieces close to each other. Here are the seals and the bearing, that are used for this spindle. Now, I am doing this to note the parts as...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I have a slip joint like that in the passenger side front axle. I just hacked the clips off. Then when I put the axle back in, I replaced them with the thickest zipties I could find. By the way, greaseless or not, I packed that sucker with grease anyway, then slid the boot over it and clamped...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Just take the hose clamps off and drive it. It isn't going to die in a trip or three just because you got no clamps on there. If it still vibrates the same, you'll know that wasn't the problem. I'd still replace the hose clamps with zip ties after that, though.

    A Post I Don't Want To Make

Ok, first of all, for the tester... Get a replacement gauge for it. Roughly ten bucks from amazon. Get one that goes to 1500. And that is 4 inches in diameter. That will give you good readability and range. Don't cheap out and get the smaller ones. I made that mistake. Ended up buying a 4...

This tool is one that I don't know how I have lived without!!! https://www.amazon.com/Performance-Tool-W89304-Joint-Adapter/dp/B000BP4SHA Ok, what I did with the one where both clips had broken off... I used the dremel tool to grind one of the clips away, until the cap had clearance. Pushed...

    Spindle questions

Ok, I got half of a u-joint done. What I did was to dremel grind the clip itself, until it was clear of the cap. Flush with the joint it is in. Had the be very careful, didn't want to grind any of the yoke away. Then I was able to use the u-joint tool to press from the other side. Thought...

    Spindle questions

Groan. I swear, these must be the original u-joints and shafts. The whole thing is rusted so solid that the ends of the retaining clips just broke off. Now I am dealing with figuring out how to get the rest of the clip to come out. If I had cold chisels, a welding torch, and a good solid...

    Spindle questions

Ok, What I got is 2 separate parts. I think mine is supposed to be the one piece deal. I'll check that out more thoroughly on mine again. But as I recall, mine looked more like his, (In his video.) It was totally destroyed on the passenger side. I didn't look that closely at the driver's side...

    Spindle questions

Yep. I looked a couple times. Couldn't find anything there for a while, about that particular seal. Kept getting directed to the needle bearing kit with it's seals. I think I finally figured it out, though. It's the seal that this kid talks about at about 12:36 of this video. By the way...

    Spindle questions

Thank you. I would have forgotten to mark the yokes. Yes, I already have the replacement needle bearing, and it's seals. I just need the pinion seal, now. (Dana Spicer # 44895. I don't know what the ford number is.)

    Spindle questions

Last question for now. Would you recommend replacing that whole axle, right up into the differential? Or just do this u-joint, replace that bad seal, then get on with replacing the inner bearing and seals, putting the spindle back, and then replacing all bearings and seals from that point out?

    Spindle questions

I got the passenger side spindle off. Discovered, 1. The u-joint in that drive axle is shot. And 2. There is an inner seal there, that seems to keep the axle centered... That is all torn up and broken. Can anyone tell me what that seal is called? Or better yet, a part number?

    What all runs on vacuum?

I was not under the impression that pumping the brake pedal would adjust the brakes. Only that if it was taking a while for the rear cylinders to fill, as @snicklas suggested... pumping them might help to fill them more quickly. Agreed about the master cylinder. I am beginning to suspect that...

    What all runs on vacuum?

Thank you! That is interesting. I'll be moving on to the rear brakes, after this. But the fact is, at least the passenger rear brakes were dragging. Badly enough to actually brake the truck any time I let off the go pedal. And make it take more go pedal than it should, just to get it moving...

    Spindle questions

92 f250 4x4 Here is a quick video I just made. On the drivers side I can't even get the screwdriver all the way between the bearing and the spindle nut. On the passenger side there is a LOT of room. Enought to almost turn the screwdriver completely sideways. The driver's side inner spindle...
