    Relocated coolant overflow

Tank strap mounted and tightened. Tank all cleaned. As you can see I left the bottom piece of plastic on the tank as added support in case it flexes ever. I used a drill bit and a utility knife to clean out the top. I then washed it out. mounted up and fitted in. Clears the battery tray...

    Relocated coolant overflow

I am getting ready to install a cold air intake, so in order to make room, I needed to remove the coolant overflow and the windshield washer tank. For this I used a second washer tank and bracket from a junkyard. I documented this all for the coolant overflow, but I will be doing the same thing...

    80w-90 or 85w-140 Which and Why ???

Spec on the 10.25 iirc is 85-140. Now reading in my textbooks from tech school there was a bar graph that struck me. 85-140w is good for lubrication down to -10* where 75-140 is good to -40. Also as previously stated 10.5 spec is 75-140. Since I get a good discount through our shop I will be...

    Intercooler system costs?

Pondering question. could you (bear with me) use the 7.3 intercooler backwards? The factory has the hot side coming in on the passenger side and the cold on the drivers side. Could you plumb the hot side in through the drivers side and cold on the passenger side? My thought is to use the intake...

    Intercooler system costs?

I didnt exaggerate much, that sucker is heavy. I have to say a 7.3 powerstroke ic is probably 20-30 pounds. I would not have bought a intercooler setup had it not have come with the turbo kit I bought. However the hypermax is a very nice kit, works very well, With some work bolts in very nicely...

    Intercooler pipe route

I think you will notice what you lose in lag and cruising psi you will gain in cooling abilities, especially pulling a grade or towing.

    Intercooler pipe route

I think it might be something to worry about if you had a supercar, but on a idi diesel I think there are other things to worry about. Yes having 90* bends do add turbulence to the air and change how it flows, yad yad ya. I dont think it will even be noticeable. Beside my lag on my hypermax...

    Turbo blankets?

Fair point. I do hit 1200 and thats about it. I wouldnt have thought it was so much the high heat just the fatiguing from heating up and cooling down, but then again i guess it is subject to that everyday. Im not looking for a miracle out of the blanket, hp, mpg, pixie dust, etc. just looking...

    New baby moose and injectors.

I know it is a spelling error, but for those inquiring russ's oilburners handle is typ4 not typa Any stanadyne shop will do you well. Mel at conestoaga has done me well and I have absolutely no complaints. I can also say the same thing about russ, he has done me well and answered all of my...

    Intercooler pipe routing options (pics)

It does look slightly different. I will also bet that would make for a better connection, as mine seems slightly short and you have to encourage all the boots to play nice. I also dont think that the wastegate is needed, it may be needed on a factory turbo because they are pinned but otherwise I...

    Turbo blankets?

this is a quote from the link below that got me wondering about warpage on the turbo. "I run a turbo blanket on my race car (is300 + 2jzgte) and have been asked to remove it by my turbo technician. They hold in a **** load of heat which is a plus but after an extended period of time they can...

    Turbo blankets?

I have been thinking about buying and running a turbo blanket. Not anything special, just a amazon titanium lava rock blanket. As with everything there is pros and cons. I would love to help keep engine bay temps down. My worry in doing so is that I might keep too much heat in the turbine...

    Intercooler pipe routing options (pics)

It is just the hypermax intercooler kit they still sell. I would not have bought the kit on my own but when i bought my turbo kit off craigslist it came with the intercooler for a price i couldn't pass up. It however is a very good kit with a big honkin intercooler. I swear it weighs 50 pounds...

I added a few more pics here https://www.oilburners.net/threads/intercooler-pipe-routing-options-pics.81397/ I wanted to make it a general cache of pics so people looking through the forum could have a single posting that has many pictures on it for ideas.

Since with intercooling you sometimes also want to do a cold air intake or a ghost tube I figure I will include a couple.

I agree it is absolutely gorgeous to look at the way he ran his ic piping for that 088. I am in love with it as I know you also are!
