those covers are pretty spendy at $55 for a aluminum finned cover lol. Thats why i went to one. better heat dissipation from aluminum and fins...
I have ran a couple different flavors of fluids throughout my truck (mainly coolant, but have changed fluid brands as well)
I ran lucas in my tranny tcase and diff. wasnt my fav. wasnt the worst. really nothing good or bad to say.
I would not question running valvoline synthetic , mobil...
yes 75-140 sythetic oil.
requires 85-140 but why not go to a slightly thinner more common oil? the main difference is pour point being like -10* vs -35*.
By any chance @catbird7 did you recently post about this on the facebook idi enthusiasts page? Because if not that is the second time I have heard that.
@pontoonrob I know has it done on his truck as well. If memory serves me correct he had south bend drill him a 13'' psd cluch and then ship it out. I also know justin has done it a couple times. I may very well end up doing it when i kill my autozone clutch which has held up well.
Good info None...
I dont know of too many kits that are cowl inducted and intercooled. I think it is a great idea to try and use a pressurized area to feed the turbo (boosting your boost!) But I am not a fan of them, but I guess that also largely has to do with my hating the ats turbo/factory turbo airbox. It is...
Bummer. I am ok with that though, because I was dying to have one so I could monitor fuel economy, but I am kind of glad to hear that, because it is money i didnt need to spend! But I do appreciate the info.
I think that would be sweet. I am bummed to see that over just part throttle exceeds the range of the afr. I didnt have much luck searching if any other afr gauges are readily available that go over that. It seems like that is pretty much the max (17:1). But i do appreciate the video none the...
I would love to hear a more detailed post about what changes you notice the longer you have the intercooler installed. or if you dont want to post it and would rather message me, I would love to hear it!
they are like 7 feet long give or take. I did a whole bunch of resarch on them before I built them, and the general consensus is the longer the better. and I liked the look. so they are long. And man do they work well!!!
Incase you care for more info...
@Fordfan90 with emails it is hit or miss with him as to how quickly he responds.
His suggestion is to call, and if ya dont get an answer give him another call a hour or two later.
what do egts look like before and after? say cruising and hard pulls, and i am curious what mpgs do, once you can keep your foot out of it! How are boost pressures? I would think you would have dropped 1-2 psi cruising with the ic
I also see turbo kits very frequently. They are out there, you just have to look. Heck i have bought two under $300
I agree that the kits may be archaic but they still perform very well. I think adding modern touches very much helps. ie: having russ put a 60-1 wheel in, a ww2, a bigger down...
I would also suggest if going new to go with a R&D kit as well. the turbos offered are much newer and more advanced than any of the other kits.
that being said a modded banks hmax or ats all perform very well. It is more of a pick your poison.
I would agree with the intercooler as well. I havent dealt too much with a turbo idi at elevations like that, but I know egts with my na at 9000' were insane. keeping 70 mph i was right around 1150*. That would be my only thing is drive by the pyro, as previously said.
I currently run a 4'' exhaust off a powerstroke from the downpipe back with muffler and I really like it. It is very quiet and yet has good sound, and flows well. So for another option you might look on craigslist for used exhaust systems, or even buy one for a 94-97 powerstroke (very similar to...
@Thewespaul I wish i would have seen that thread. I would love to even see some youtube videos on what afr looks like under various driving conditions! But datalogging would be awesome!
@Sidewinded_idi if it is going to be a work truck/hauling truck why not put a dually flat bed on it and build sides for when you need a box? As much as you haul I would almost think it would work out better not having sides to damage?
My guess is between 15-30 hp gain. I am not 100% sure. This year their was a kid there with a factory turbo truck pump turned up, wastegate disabled, and a 3'' dp - 4'' exhaust who made 191 whp at 15 psi. but yet the owner of R&d dynod his factory truck and timed it, turned the pump up and...
you are telling me. I agree it is weird that it does not show torque, but i guess it is to boost the cummins guys egos but those are the three dyno sheets i received after i dynod. that and a t-shirt for the event and a sticker is all i got. So I would agree, and you aren't the first to say...
