Heck to take it further cause now you got me drinkin’ and dreamin’
I’d love to convert our c10 to manual steering and brakes just for the sake of simplicity. And drop a 6.2 diesel in it to putt around in.
But that prolly sounds dumb to most. And it currently just works so well.
Front edge...
Not apples to apples, but my dad and I have owned a 2:56 geared C10 mild 355/TH350 (low stall) for almost 30 years. 29” tires. (235/75-15)
NEVER have i once wished for OD and steeper gears. We have grossed 12-13k hauling lathe and plaster to the dump.
we have dollied a car (‘88 park avenue) 6...
Circa 2016, wife’s phone (iPhone 6 or 8) went for a swim down the toilet on a plane. We hadn’t taken off yet.....
They fished it out and 10 minutes later here comes about 4 ziplock bags holding this blue liquid and a phone that was still working. My wife was able to shut it off.
Got to our...
I believe #1 is cut with Kerosene, but I’m not sure when and to what percentage.
In SD I still see #1 and #2, but have not come across it in CO.
I can’t remember where kerosene falls on the lubrication scale relative to straight diesel.
That sounds like a great combo of “run-what-ya-have” to make a great daily when you don’t need 4x or a heavy hauler. I like it.
Any plans to do this in the near future? Will the idi bolt into a half ton , frame widths different?
I use opti-lube: buy it by the gallon
XPD: $64.93/512 gal = 13 cents/gal
Winter: $64.48/512 gal = 12 cents/g
Summer: $59.89/2560 = 2 cents/gal
Lubricity: $51.22/1280 = 4 cents/gal
That does not include shipping.
With the gas/diesel price discrepancy I run summer year round and just depend on...
@IDIBRONCO what rear axles have a 2.47? I assume half ton stuff?
But yes I agree, we have a pickup with 2.56’s. 1/2 GM 10-bolt. And it loves 75 mph.
2.47 with a low stall would be even better.
Long live mechanical injection!!

How you liking ID? I was thinking you recently moved there but I’m prolly just outta my gourd!!

Just like Violet the Pilot :rotflmao
@Cubey I’m late to the party, and everyone please correct me where I’m wrong.....
The top of the water pump in Cubey’s photo has 2 aux ports that are plugged.
On my ‘92 van, one port goes to the rear HC and then to the back of the LH head. The 2nd port goes to the front HC and to the RH head...

Well after playing father and husband through the warmth of the day....
I started on motor mounts at 7pm, 28F and dropping. This was my first time for this vehicle and I would not recommend doing this in the dark and cold. I became annoyed. Heavy Metal did help!!
Didn’t take any photos but the...
Wait now, if this is an IDI derby thread should we be seeing the “Good Side” as it relates to the derby theme.... ;Poke

Cleaning the drain pipe up, I realized there’s also an adapter in the block, so I removed it too. At this point the sun has dropped behind the mtns and temp is dropping fast!!!
Fired up a compact fluorescent.....sure could use the warmth of a 100w incandescent :idiot:
Now I have the adapter...
So tackled the turbo drain pipe yesterday. In the end I think it was just loose.....
I dropped the turbo support rod and took the sway bar brackets off the K-member and just swung it out of the way on its end-links.
Could access the bottom of the turbo with a long wobble extension and a T40. I...
