    Loud rattle

Had the truck towed to a diesel shop - they got the inspection cover off and found the flex plate OK and torque converter bolts were tight. The mechanic removed the oil filter, opened it and found no metal. He's absolutely certain the noise is coming from the torque converter or transmission...

I replaced the master cylinder 3 years ago the booster was original (1993) and is still working OK

    Loud rattle

The tin heat shield that protects the electrical connector is attached by 2 8mm hex head screws. They were on so tight I had to take the truck back to the transmission shop so they could back them off. I have reasonably good tools and I've never run into a bolt or nut on this vehicle I could not...

    Loud rattle

Could not remove the 3/8" bolts for the torque converter inspection cover without rounding the first one. The two bottom bolts were easy and backed out - but the upper bolts must have been over-torqued. Bottom line is I can't remove the cover to check the torque converter bolts - which I suspect...

    Loud rattle

I somehow missed this suggestion yesterday. It's worth a look - I had the transmission rebuilt a year ago and the shop left a couple of bolts from the case to the engine loose (or they came loose). This rattle came on too quickly IMO for an injection pump issue. I'll have a look tomorrow. Thanks!

    Loud rattle

I congratulate you on attaining your age and still trusting a 37 year old vehicle on a long trip. Years ago we were camped on a beach in Mexico and an old Divco milk truck came rolling in. It had been tastefully restored and now served as a motor home. It must have been 45 years old at the time...

    Hard brake pedal

Vacuum gauges were pretty common in garages engines had carburetors they'll give you an exact reading. Napa sells them for about $30. Under 17" is bad, 19" or more is good.

    Loud rattle

Believe me, I am thankful for many blessings. This truck has served me well, hauling a 3 ton travel trailer across the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico 4 round trips, clearing my lot (used it as a skidder) and multiple trips across the US hauling the 3 ton trailer. It's never left me stranded...

    Loud rattle

I had the injector pump rebuilt 8-9 years ago and have not put that many miles on it since the rebuild...maybe 9,000 miles (just a guess). The truck is mostly a garage queen for the last 19 years. The injectors were also replaced at the same time. I'm guessing that the cold timing advance might...

    Loud rattle

Thanks for the suggestions, but why would the engine be quiet under a load?

    Loud rattle

The saga continues. The current problem is a loud rattle that goes away when the engine is under load. The transmission shifts fine - no more flashing OD light. Around town the rattle is quite loud but accelerating quiets the motor. Sometimes the rattle starts and stops as if it's a loose...

Removed cluster now gauges are off

The 1993 Ford Bronco/F150-F350 electrical & vacuum troubleshooting manual saith this: "It is important to keep the speedometer face-up since the speedometer function will be affected by storage in the face down position" Just my careful R&R of the instrument panel caused issues - If I pack the...

I see nothing on my 1993 resembling the ICVR. Do you know where it is?

Removed cluster now gauges are off

1993 F250 with the automatic. While checking for electrical issues I removed the instrument cluster. I was careful handling it. I found no issues and reinstalled it. Now the fuel, voltage, oil pressure, and temperature gauges are all off. Most read very low, the fuel gauge reads 3/4 on either...

    Codes 43 63

Couldn't get the gray TPS, installed a black Echlin today and took the truck for a longer test drive it appears that was the problem. All this grief could have been shortened if the EEC terminal had allowed me to get codes earlier.

    Front tank sending unit.

My '93 F 250 came with a plastic front tank and a skid plate. It's definitely larger than 18 gallons. It's still original while the steel rear tank rusted and leaked at least 18 years ago.

    Codes 43 63

No LED brake lights or turn signal bulbs. I do have LED clearance lights that look really good. From what I've read the problem with LED brake lights is the TCM needs to see resistance which the LED brake lights aren't providing. Thanks for the suggestion though. The TPS isn't available locally...

    Codes 43 63

Thinking out loud here... Next I'll replace the TPS - even though there's a flawless sweep on the multimeter as the throttle increases to fully open there appears to be a recurring code set.

    Codes 43 63

I set the idle at 1.09 and took the truck for a short ride. No hunting and no no flashing OD light light. The truck sat for 5 hours and when I went to back it into the garage for the night the OD light was flashing again. I took the truck for another test ride and the transmission shifted fine -...

    Codes 43 63

Last time a few days ago I got 1.04 volts (high idle off) ... Today I found .99 volts and 3.84 volts open throttle. I found a post (not sure from who) who found 1.09 volts to be a good adjustment, so I thought 1.04 was sort of in the ballpark. Maybe tomorrow I'll adjust it to 1.09 and see what...

    Codes 43 63

The rebuilt transmission with 4,000 miles on it continues to get worse. The OD light will start flashing within 2 miles of starting. The transmission hunts between 2-3 a lot now - it used to just hunt around 42mph but now it hunts at a wider ranger of speeds. I've gone over every conceivable...

Front speakers out out. New radio gets hot

I'm currently chasing down a flashing OD light and electrical issues. I've gone through 3 replacement radios this year on top of the flashing OD light. Something is screwy.... 1) Both front speakers (in the door) ohm out open circuits. Both speakers have a good positive feed but no ground. Both...

losing my mind o/d light flashing

TPS has several names I made a new one by accident last post- it's not the TIP it's the TPS the throttle position sensor - a rheostat on the driver's side of the injection pump that tells the PCM what the throttle is (idle to full). Had another suggestion from Steve (a member here) ... PSOM...
