Anyone done a large aux c6 trans cooler?

For my IDI bronco I did this for the power steering, you could do something similar for the trans. I’m doing this same style for an aux trans cooler on my IDI derby car.

So what did you do with your truck today?

The passenger side is longer. Referencing how they measure, passenger is 30.5”. Spline ends to inner axle flanges is circa 29” and 32”

So what did you do with your truck today?

I pulled one of the shafts tonight. Interesting it was 28 spline. There was a number of generational changes in 71,72,73 for ford it seems like a toss up whether you got a 9” or a 9 3/8”. This site is a good resource for anyone interested: http://www.fordification.com/tech/rearends_ford09.htm...

CDR Alternative Poll - Looking for your feedback

Here’s what I’m roughly coming up, I’m starting to like an AN16 option. Min/mid/max hose size. AN12 should be fine but I prefer a higher error tolerance.

CDR Alternative Poll - Looking for your feedback

You would install the fitting on the cover and then to the cover to housing but I hear you. I like AN and have done 12AN breathers before. it’s worked fine so far. I think I would like it a bit bigger than 12an off the ip cover but would have to give it some thought. Don’t have a strong...

CDR Alternative Poll - Looking for your feedback

Hey, from some conversation in another thread I wanted to open it up to community feedback. If I made some extra CDR/breather IP covers, which design do you prefer? Let me know through the poll and any thoughts or questions you have. Pics for reference below. All components are 304ss. 1.0...

    Project Stress Test

Im really just going to the tried and true way that others have done, nothing particularly new. I’ve tried different things, and I’m thinking a single larger line off the ip cover may be preferable. Intake was made by Brian I can get closer pics.

    Project Stress Test

I have a company I created for online retail of niche / speciality parts but I haven’t deployed it, yet atleast. From my assessments the level of custom parts is cool and interesting to (most) folks but the ones that would actually invest and purchase is relatively small. I prototype quite a...

    Project Stress Test

Custom headers/zoomies, flanges are from R&D, piping was made for a 460 and then tweaked. The IP cover is going to be a breather just didn’t weld it yet. I measured the suspension pockets and all and it has Chevy truck springs.

Upgrade from oil burner to oil dumper...

I’ve never personally seen or heard of one running away in that setup, only heard speculation. If the derby engine I’m building doesn’t run away then I’d put the runaway concerns to bed but that’s a few months from testing.

Upgrade from oil burner to oil dumper...

It’s probably the rings, IDIs have a decent amount of blow by normally. The only ones I’ve seen with no blow by are the total seals. Not sure what you mean no matter what you try one catch can works? If funding doesn’t allow any changes or purchases currently except small ones why not weld bungs...

So what did you do with your truck today?

The 9 3/8 is 31 spline which matches the new unit from the drag car which is also 31 spline. What got me questioning things was the guy with the drag car told me that the 9” third member from his drag car was small bearing and I said well what does that mean? And he said he didn’t know...

So what did you do with your truck today?

And for anyone interested this is a nice article on the ford 9 3/8 https://burntclutches.com/2020/05/28/automotiva-obscura-the-ford-9-3-8-differential/ And the 9” third member I just picked up that I want to put in my 9 3/8” housing

So what did you do with your truck today?

Thanks man for sharing the details and knowledge. Over the weekend when I take things apart I’ll let you know. Everything you said makes sense, but I’m also building a franken axle that I think will work which is a 31 spline 9 3/8 and I’m going to use the 9 3/8 shafts in the 9” third member that...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I’m putting together a ford 9” for my latest IDI project. I have a 9 3/8” from the tbird which I heard a 9” third member bolts right in. I wanted a full spool and 4.56 gears and found it in Maryland. My understanding is a ford 9 3/8 is compatible with any 31 spline big bearing 9”. What I...

    parallel turbos

I’m not sure exactly what you mean about injectors showing cylinder input related to compression. If you want to pay for shipping back and forth, i can mail you my test IP. It’s somewhere around 140cc.

Anyone hotshot trucking in an IDI?

IDI gen trucks don’t make great hot shot rigs If there’s one thing that unites 90% of the truck community though is that Ford and Dodge are the light class trucks putting in a majority of the “work work”
