They're extremely nice pieces of IDI jewelry but I don't think they're mandatory. I'd try and fix what you've got but i'm sure you're pretty frustrated with it by now as I was.
That was my problem. Did the return lines 3 times with different brand O-rings before I finally caught what was happening. I installed my old caps and have had zero issues ever since.
My gut says check the cap itself. I just measured some of my original Ford return line caps and all measured about .631" on the inside. I bought a return line kit off amazon that was "German made" and the caps that have a 90 degree turn in the back cylinders (7 and 8) were oversized by more...
I live in Havasu. If you're willing to part ways with it I could definitely use it. Mine is still holding but not sure how much longer it will. Also my Ferd is a 4x4
I have one in my Jeep but a greasable throwout bearing would be a huge upgrade. Also having the rubber clutch fork boot keeping dirt and grime out of the behousing area. I'm not sure if the throwout on mine has a grease port but I did smire some grease on the pivot ball to do "something". If...
I think sometimes these stories can be anticlimactic. Sometimes what REALLY happens is they sell the truck to some guy for pennies who fixes it for pennies and drives it until FORD happens again. Then the old owner buys something unAmerican and wanders over to another forum with issues...
Alcoa's have always been a favorite of mine. They make old trucks look classic IMO especially a dually. I would 100% spiff those bad boys up with a clean/buff.
That doesn't sound like a bad idea. I believe they are cast iron on some older 460 manual trucks. I would feel way better drilling new holes in a cast iron one than aluminum. I actually used to have one of those belhousings and sold it with a 460 I had. They are definitely WAY heavier but...
I currently have 3.55 gears in the truck and 35's so highway speeds are not as bad but it does rev higher than i'd like. I think the zf5 with 4:10's and 35's would be a great match. I'd like to come up on a ZF5 but I can't seem to find one at all really let alone a diesel 4x4 trans. I will...
I've got a picture of it I just need to upload it. The material broke and fell out on the top and bottom and just the material that supports the pivot ball is left and the clutch still works. I do have a welder but it's just MIG I can weld steel all day but just not set up for aluminum.
I think the issue truly is wear and tear and the lack of lube on the throw out bearing as well as the pivot ball. Once it's starts getting dry and hard to push it transfers all that hydraulic pressure to the pivot. It's really not that thick of aluminum either. I love the T19 for 95% of my...
Whatever it is lets hope it hasn't caused any damage. I checked out my trans yesterday and I do indeed have the dreaded cracked T19 aluminum belhousing at the clutch pivot :( I want to start posting pictures but my photobucket is being a POS
What do you guys think? How much is it going to cost to get a ZF5 into my truck in 2022? I found one is CA that about 800 but not sure if it's a gas or diesel version. Should I just make a support bracket and keep on truckin with the T19? Clutch still works...for now but i'm sure it's going...
I'm interested in this too as my truck has a similar noise with the 6.9/T19 combo. I did just do a clutch master cylinder fluid flush and bleed as well as a clutch pedal heim joint and this is when the problem presented itself. Before it had no noise but then again i've been driving this truck...
When you replaced the Master cylinder did you bench bleed it first? I just did mine and it took almost 50 full strokes of the piston before all the air was out.
I agree the Readhead steering gears are a great product. At the old shop I used to work for when a customer wanted a new box we'd swap them out with reman boxes but more often then not these had more play in them than the box we replaced. We ended up only replacing steering boxes with brand...
Can you notice a difference in the braking with the new pump or is it basically the same? I imagine the trans shifting is the main reason behind the pump replacement but I'm glad to hear it's better and not worse than before.
Yeah I've definitely realized if I want nice parts and are willing...
You said it isn't diesel so what does it smell like? Did it have water in it? The picture isn't quite enough to know what was pumped into your truck. Was it possibly mix with regular gasoline? I doubt it's anything crazy like a terrorist gas tank filler but as far as removing it i'd get a...
I've done this before but usually when I've done it i've taken the TRE off the pitman arm and felt the play then kept tightening the screw until it was gone then backed it off a 1/4 turn. If I couldn't turn the pitman by hand lock to lock it was too much and backed it off more.
The DTI comes with a 6.35 transducer (I'm assuming that's in mm) which fits on 5mm, 6mm, and 1/4" hard lines. I just went outside and measured my 1987 6.9 injectors hard line and it was 1/4"
That is pretty cool actually. A bit excessive for an idi that doesn't have enough power to kill itself but a cool addition none the less. I'd be more worried about a line rupturing and dumping all my lube on the freeway but i'm a huge fan of simplicity.
Man I wonder if you've got a leak some where. Two gauges reading different readings is suspect but that's exactly what i'm dealing with now. I just went outside again and checked with a 3rd gauge I had and I'm getting about 23.5 lbs. So in total the three gauges read 17lbs. (your style...
Ok now to throw a wrench in the mix...I just went outside and checked my vacuum pump again with another gauge I had laying around (old school Craftsman) and now im get about 25 lbs quickly and after a few seconds it's hits about 26.5 lbs of vacuum?? Maybe this pump is ok after all and my gauge...
I'm reading the ad description "Vehicle try-on testing has been conducted on this part to ensure trouble-free performance" BULLS*** Whatever standard they are using is junk. I'll definitely look into Cardone.
Rockauto is actually more expensive than Amazon for some reason with that link you...
Yeah I had a situation like that recently where I was driving with a blown brake booster and blew threw a 4 way stop because the truck wouldn't stop. After that I said no more of this Sh** i'm fixing it now. I could have killed someone.
Yeah I can see why the serp belt is a great addition...
