    7.3idi turbo vs 7.3idi

Correct, if you use turbo rods, you must use turbo balancer and flex plate. I do not believe that rule applies if you use psd machined rods

    Cylinder head locating dowels--3 missing?

They are so thin that they don't offer any structural support for head location when running, it is solely for assembly. I vote they aren't needed, but are nice to have. They aren't made anymore. Justin makes custom ones for a good price if you wish to replace them.

Bump steer issues on twin I-beam F350

Also check your ball joints and tie rod ends. Bump steer and off center steering wheel is a sign of worn out components.

Hesitates after start (600RPMish) for 3 seconds - then runs normally

Any exhaust smoke? Might be fuel bleed back

    Project Little Foot

Zip tie on steel line won't hurt it. I would put a little piece of rubber beteeen it and the bracket at some point though, it may rub against it and leak eventually.

So what did you do with your truck today?

1995. Overheated, probably zero compression at 140k. But it is so clean and 100% original it looks like a time capsule. Couldn't pass up for $400. And it came with a FULL TANK. I'll tear into this 5.2 probably after my dad's truck is done.

It sounds like its thumping through the intake... Which... Hmm.. Videos are alwaya hard to tell if something is wrong or not. The engine isn't shaking at all, so that makes me think it is running smoothly. Air filter fully seated?

How bad is the HG job on a 7.3 IDI?

Ground probably isnt the problem. If you have fuel slightly bubbling but not squirting across the engine, it is not fully primed yet. Aa for that stud, that is the black wire for the glow plug module.

    7.3 IDI Questions

CDD sells a stainless oil cooler that has a better cooling capacity, designed after the IDIT oil cooler. I beleive the only flexplate that is different across all IDI's is the IDIT one. I think all N/A engines all use the same balance. If you aren't pushing more than 12ish psi, you'll most...

    7.3 IDI Questions

Un bolt what you want off the 6.9 and bolt to the 7.3. For the heads, if they currently do not have studs, no better time to do it than now. I would also reseal the engine while it is out.

How bad is the HG job on a 7.3 IDI?

It may get stuck on defrost depending on your hvac controls. It should just plug into a vacuum manifold, I believe it'll be on your drivers side fender well near the brake booster. As for coolant flushes, different products for different material to clean out. If its just mild scale thats...

Pic 1 is water in fuel sensor. If your filter has it, it'll be on the bottom of your fuel filter. Second is vacuum lines, mostly for your HVAC ducting. Third is the block heater. Weird end plugs into side of block on passenger side? Looking good so far, don't forget to prime your fuel system.

How bad is the HG job on a 7.3 IDI?

I use a rachet strap n the engine lifting bracket and the frame to make the engine sit more level, makes aligning the transmission a lot easier. Don't force it. When it is aligned, it'll drop into place. The center of the torque converter has a pilot hole it sits in, and there is also dowells...

I have always just torqued the center bolt down to position the balancer, has never been an issue.
