Not really, the biggest thing is to not burn your starter up. Rule of thumb is 30 seconds cranking, 2 minutes cool off. Remember, you have to fill your pump and all the lines before its all primed. When I replaced my pump I think I spent 45 minutes doing it.
Even if it was spinning slower, it would be jetting off a good foot or more of a fuel spritz. Sounds like you have more air in your fuel between the Schrader and the injectors. Make sure your fuel shutoff solenoid has good power, and bleed some more. The fueling when its bled is very different...
Okay you did it all the right way then. With all 8 lines cracked loose, do you get a nice healthy spritz from each injector as its cranking over? Or is it just lightly bubbling and streaming a little?
I dont think anyone here has had good or bad luck with swag performance pumps and stuff, I know I have purchased a few odd gaskets from them with good results though.
When you replaced the pump, did you take the timing gear off or did you take the pump off the gear? Did you bleed the air out of...
Also note, theres a lot of... Healthy discussion about in line electric pumps, and the high pressure pump is sensitive to flow and volume. If you are stock and the mechanical lift pump is fine, I suggest using it.
How did you test the glow plugs? Just making sure voltage at the plugs isn't enough.
If you have power to the fuel shutoff solenoid, no, it'll keep injecting fuel and will still look like a light white mist.
How are the glow plugs themselves? You need most if not all working in order to start these engines.
Heres the verdict, turbo balancer is 11.6lbs, new n/a balancer is also 11.6lbs.
The old n/a balancer I pulled off the block I'm building is 10.2lbs... Maybe I have two turbo balancers?
Here's the old n/a next to the original turbo balancer. Turbo being on top. Definitely more meat on the center...
It is most likely vapor fuel or crankcase gasses, as they return to the intake.
Don't use starting fluid, or a whole bunch of it, as it can damage the heads and rings.
Spent some more time on the block I'm building; pulled the pistons out last night and honed all the cylinders. Looks amazing now.
I've tasked my dad with cleaning the exterior of the block, least he can do since it's his engine.
I measured the bores again after honing, all are between 4.112...
I am also curious about this...
I would love to go e pump, but I cherish my dual tanks too much, and the factory return line is too small for some of those high volume pumps out there.
Alright did a bit of teardown, here is an IDIT balancer next to a new stock idi one. Only thing I see different is the drillings for the weight, and the casting number.
So @Rmccaig86 swung by so I could flush his coolant out. Or I should say... Water. We're starting to tickle freezing temps here.
While he was here I set his clock. I think @Jesus Freak is just a wuss when it comes to buttons :flipa:joker:
I'm definitely very happy with how the 093 performed before going bigger pump and injectors. I'm even happier with the upgraded parts. A 093 on a stock engine really wakes them up!
