    Project White F250 Restore

Cleaned the turbo heads and pulled all the valves. Three broken springs, and she still ran. Shows you how dang reliable these engines are. I ended up handing the heads to my other local idi enthusiast to lap the valves. I started one, and after 30 minutes I said this sücks and decided to pay...

Never mind--solved--Question re: removing cylinder heads

When I did my heads in chassis I used the 2 ton harbor freight cherry picker with good success. Hope your back gets better soon.

    Vacuum Filling Coolant (1993 7.3 IDI)....possible Concerns??

I just did a coolant flush on a 6.9 recently. Took about 6 gallons between engine and overflow. I got 5 in, drove it around the block to open the thermostat, then put the last gallon in.

    7.3 IDI Turbo Harmonic Balancer

Even if its a 'known running engine' that doesn't mean much. Even the one I picked up had some issues, like valves not sealing causing bad compression. Seems like the actual good engines are further and further apart...

    Oil Filter for 1993 7.3 IDI Non-Turbo....Baldwin B7039?

I haven't seen many fleets use bypass filters. The ones I have typically have better running fleets. Mind you, it isn't a 'throw it on and trust it's working' system, you still need to send out oil analysis samples every 6ish months to make sure the packages in the oil are good, and no...

So what did you do with your truck today?

We have a bada*s landa pressure washer that does 4GPM and 4000psi, 220°f burner on it.. That thing is sweet. Employees aren't allowed to use it anymore due to a global policy coming out of no more working on your own stuff anymore. Super lame. So what I did this evening is I went to home...

Short burst of poor engine sound

Do you still have egr? Chances are a chunk of buildup in the intake got sucked into the valves and the engine munched it up. Very similar symptoms.

    Zf5 service plate replacment?

The other secret with rtv is letting it fully cure on a clean surface and it should never leak. Most failure occurs either not getting it clean enough, or not waiting the cure time.

    Project White F250 Restore

Ya know, it wasn't actually that hard to do. I put the throw at bottom dead center, then used a magnet to slide the cooling nozzle into place, then used a magnet to get the bolt in and threaded. Torquing was easy with a 10" extension. I used blue lock-tite on them too.

    Project White F250 Restore

Coming along nicely. Cooling nozzles installed, oil cooler, pump, and rifling primed with oil, and resealed the front cover with a new gasket and front main seal. Had to replace the IP gear cover, apparently the one on this block got cracked at some point.

    Oil Filter for 1993 7.3 IDI Non-Turbo....Baldwin B7039?

When it comes to filters, Baldwin has been known in the heavy duty field as being the cheapest filters out there. I did a bit of homework to kind of back this up; B7039 has a micron rating 27 absolute. Compared to other filters; Motorcraft F4TZ-6731-B has a micron rating at 18 with 98%...

I scrubbed the block I'm building down a bit more. Its now like 99% clean, ready for pistons and rods to go back in. Man, I can't wait to see this thing run.
