Clinking( metal clicking) noise when rolling

Glad to hear you found it. Have you done any work in the brake pedal assembly and removed the switch by chance? Asking because I once replace the switch backwards or upside down don’t remember and had weird issues, just Murphys law kind of stuff

So what did you do with your truck today?

Can’t believe shitbirds isn’t censored haha There’s also the thread “so I sold my truck 5 months ago and still have it” which is an interesting one

    Vacuum Pump Pulley

Just looked again and I think the difference between VCP112 and VCP119 is electrical vs mechanical - they look different and the VCP119 is similar to the vac pump on the IDI. Not sure which your truck has though

    Vacuum Pump Pulley

I don’t know anything about the 6.0 (other than people cap on em all the time ha) but per rock auto for a ‘05 (both f250 & 350 because they should be the same and checked both) they spec the standard motor products VCP112 and don’t list VCP119. Is it possibly the wrong parts you got? It does not...

    sticking valve

Is that common with the IDIs? I read about it a lot on the tdi forum - suppose nothing is exempt at a certain point though

    Need Timing Light

There’s also the timing registry with folks who have equipment. If it’s helpful to you at all, maybe you already saw but didn’t see it mentioned explicitly https://www.oilburners.net/threads/timing-service-registry.70126/

    Water pump heater bolt

Like others I did this a few months ago and applied heat from a butane torch and few rounds of penetrating oil and it came out easily with an impact morning after edit: just realized this is old thread

    Brake issue after pulling engine

I think Nick Pisca has some information on the vacuum manifold on his website. No idea if he/it’s still active or not but less than a year ago saw there are custom vac manifolds for sale on there. I came across it by researching vac line routing diagrams

Small coolant leak on driver side leaking down to slave cylinder (see photos) where is this coming from?

Everything above plus good time to double check all coolant line clamps and overflow reservoir

Cold Start Smoking Briefly while backing up only

I’m not sure but my initial assumption would be along the lines of backing up making the smoke more likely to pass by the front of the cab. Perhaps you can try to establish a baseline with a camera or something to see what happens when you don’t back up. In both my 7.3 and 1.9 I notice sporadic...

Borg Warner 1356 manual shift transfer case

It’s visible from under the truck and separate from the shift shaft. I’ve always been curious what it’s for, not sure if it can be manually turned as an aux control or not

Borg Warner 1356 manual shift transfer case

I have the manual shift tcase as well and don’t know much about them… with this small amount of grease/oil what happens if you leave it? Agree with cleaning it up and monitoring but personally wouldn’t fill with rtv

    New Here But Not Really

This might help get you started but I don’t have personal experience. There’s definitely folks who have done the swap https://www.oilburners.net/threads/6-9-zf5-swap.94059/

    7.3idi hard shift

I’m not sure but would definitely fix the wire sheathing issue first if it were me - as a low hanging fruit kind of thing.

How bad is the HG job on a 7.3 IDI?

if the water pump isn't leaking i wouldn't bother personally, it's easy enough to do with the engine in place later. maybe the thermostat though if it's old but same as water pump

    Receiver hitch options

Picked up a class 5 from etrailer.com and it's doing great - it's a Curt. the only differences from what i remember are bumper style, my truck has the deep ranch style and was concerned about vertical clearance but got the right one

Unsure of getting a 7.3 after reading the cavitation article, looking for real world insights.

@Shamoke ive got a NA ‘88 as well and bought it with green coolant. Put a new aluminum rad with green coolant a few years ago - this past summer finally transitioned over to sca pre charged coolant from Napa. General consensus is cavitation issues are kinda overstated and if the block was...

    Big oil leak?

@OddTodd you may consider posting this to the 6.9/7.3 board at https://www.oilburners.net/forums/6-9l-ih-7-3l-idi-diesels.34/ I think this is a different “tech article” section of the forum and probably doesn’t get the viewership of the 7.3 page

Thanks for the input all, some good suggestions I hadn’t considered. Gonna think it over and look for deals. Might continue hoofing the pancake compressor as a portable tank. Glad to hear the m18 unit works so well
