    My options, and your opinions.

Tear apart the cavitated 7.3 and see what you actually have. If the rotating assembly in that is actually good, then swap it into your IDIT block. Check that block deck for flatness, choose the best 2 heads out of the 4 7.3 heads you have, and put it together. You'd then have a running 7.3 for...

Let’s make a deal - Sell me the website?

I'm not familiar, and I've got no global ambitions. I've posted 4 times here(now 5), 3(now 4) were in response to people quoting me. Should I not respond to that? I feel a response is acceptable in those situations. Should I have posted in this at all? Probably not, it's no skin off my back who...

Let’s make a deal - Sell me the website?

On the forum or this thread? I joined the forum because I was looking for a rayjay manifold. Something most people have never heard of, and this forum had the most postings on people having one, asking about them, etc. So I joined. Then stuck around for the dialogue, helping others out, giving...

Let’s make a deal - Sell me the website?

I selectively edited it because that was the part I was addressing. What I said didn't pertain to your caddy or anything else in the post. Are you upset that I didn't comment on your caddy? Nothing personal about it, I have 2 caddy northstars myself, but it just didn't pertain to what I was...

1992 E40D blues. Works with jumper.

20 amp with the gas or IDI. 30 amp with the powerstroke, according to prodemand wiring diagram. Prodemand wiring diagram still references the underhood fusebox with letters up to 94. On the other hand, they have a separate diagram where they show the diesel fuse box, and it has numbers, with...

Let’s make a deal - Sell me the website?

You're dreaming. 30 years ago the IDI was the bees knees. There were a number of corporations that offered a host of aftermarket parts with next day availability. Ideas on power and economy were abuzz, and people were very active about the platform. Now you have a handful of niche vendors that...

    Stub shaft wear

Blue stuff is a slip coating, teflon I believe. Nobody recoats them as far as I know, only replace. Driveshaft shop won't balance because without the coating it will be a sloppy fit and won't spin right. Need to replace the stub end, they were still made last I knew. If not, they should be able...

1992 E40D blues. Works with jumper.

Low power with ignition on to the relay signal wire. That wire passes through fuse U, so start at fuse U, key on engine off, check for 12v. If you don't have it, then go to checking the switch. If you have power at fuse U, check continuity between fuse and relay, as there is a diode that might...

1992 E40D blues. Works with jumper.

Prodemand says that relay coil gets ign+ from the switch, through fuse U(20A). That fuse also powers the fuel heater as well. So check fuse U under the hood and see what volts are there. If it's blown, I'd suspect a shorted fuel heater. If not, check for voltage at the fuse. If it's low at the...

Let’s make a deal - Sell me the website?

I can't exactly fault shaggy in this decline. You can do the best you can, but I feel forums are sadly dying. Facebook makes it too easy, most people already have a login and password for the place, so there's no real need to create an account or such. Forums were huge in the mid 2000's, and...

Blew a head gasket, what parts am I gonna need?

I'd have the heads gone through minimum. That will likely take you a few weeks unfortunately, unless you get some remans ready to go. IMO the worst thing you could have happen is slap gaskets in it and blow it again because you were in a hurry. Do it once, do it right.

    Fuel Flow rate 6.9

You'll notice low/no power without fuel pressure to the inlet. The injection pump has a transfer pump on it, but you don't want to rely upon that. Fuel not only lubricates, but cools the injection pump as well. These aren't vp44's off a cummins that are super sensitive to low/no fuel pressure...

    Fuel Flow rate 6.9

Those little guys don't flow enough for even a stock setup. If you search, wes put out required flow numbers for most normal injection pumps, I think it was something like 50 gph. Be aware that the flow ratings most e-pumps show are at 0 psi. The moral of the story is you want to maintain 5 psi...

Multiport Injectors: anyone still running them?

I believe the term you're looking for is multi-orifice or multi-hole. Multi-port is a type of gasoline efi. Anyways, I don't think moose misters used these nozzles on an IDI injector, as idi engines predominately use pintle or pintaux injectors. There is a member here who did convert some...

WARNING: DO NOT FLAT TOW A ZF5 EQUIPPED TRUCK

Very few vehicles should be flat towed. Unless it specifically says it can, work under the assumption that it can't. It has to do with fluid flow/pumps being on the output shaft. If it's splash lubed, or has the pump on the countershaft(zf6) it shouldn't be flat towed, as it won't be lubricated...

    Porting idi heads

You wouldn't gain anything by increasing the volume of the combustion chamber. Your combustion chamber isn't part of the swept volume and therefore doesn't pull in any air. The only way to increase swept volume is by increasing either the bore or stroke of the engine. If you increase the size of...

    “The 6.9” project thread

Those are stronger then a gearvendors, but I don't know how you'd mount one divorced. I also don't know how available parts are for them anymore. You're 4x4 right? Best would be to direct mount it, but that complicates it and makes it a pretty long setup.

    “The 6.9” project thread

I watch the same channel, multiple like it actually. One I saw last week(not sure of which channel) customer changed their own oil, and had a shifting complaint afterwards. Come to find out they dumped the trans fluid instead of the engine oil, and then overfilled the engine by 6 quarts. There's...

6.9 in a bus needs radiator. Upgrades?

I did change my clutch. I'm not going to call it an exact nightmare, but after searching and cross referencing for hours I found that anything new off the shelf was going to cost close to $1k. Whether new(rare) clutch with my current fan, or new(common) with a compatible new fan. After a bunch...

Is there any mechanical difference between 158 and 175 hp?

I don't think being at 6 is your issue. Mine likes and is set at 6.5 fwiw. It's also in a school bus, which is significantly heavier then most trucks/trailers on here, and can do 70 mph. From your video, with the little bit of running that I heard, it sounds like it's timed close enough, as I...

Is there any mechanical difference between 158 and 175 hp?

I don't think there are differences engine wise, just the pump being turned down to accommodate having less air at altitude. If you've got the mirror, keep turning it up a flat at a time until you get haze/smoke, then back it off. NA tuning is pretty easy, and you don't really need a pyrometer...

6.9 in a bus needs radiator. Upgrades?

Fired the bus up today. I'm hoping to camp in it next weekend, and we're setting up camp tomorrow. This waiting til the last minute stuff might be comical if I didn't seemingly run everything in my life like that LOL:oops:. Batteries were dead, no real surprise after sitting since November...

    parallel turbos

I also said that your drains aren't going to work. You won't be able to use off the shelf "turbo drains" on this. Ditch those hydraulic fittings and elbows, the tight bends won't work well with gravity. Since this isn't pressurized, you can buy teflon lined braided hose with DIY at home...
