Good looking engine. Depending on where you mount your turbo you may want to reroute the return line that is behind the intake. I think factory turbos dead ended the #7 return and ran across between banks in front of the intake. The Hypermax kit had a long length of fuel line to run from #7 to...
Not knowing where the timing marks were before, your best bet would to have the pump rotated slightly to the passenger side from the point where the marks line up, about 1/16" offset in the marks.
Did you note where the static timing marks (gear tower and IP at 12:00) were before you removed the pump? If it ran OK before you should have put it back the same. A member here installed his pump rotated too far to the drivers side (retarded), and couldn't get it started. With a mechanical fuel...
Here are some pictures of the tool kit for our engines. TKIT-1983-D6.9 I assume the number would change depending on the year and updated to 7.3 when that engine was released. If you can't look inside the case you won't know if all the tools are there.
I wouldn't be too concerned about plastic master and slave. As stated, look under the dash at the pushrod and pin that actuates it. Once the plastic bushing wears out there is a lot of play and the pin and pushrod wear. The shaft the clutch pedal mounts to has bushings also. If these go out the...
There are clamps that grip three and four of the injector lines together where they are parallel. If the PO removed the line clamps the lines will crack due to vibration. This thread shows the location of the line clamps...
You could install a toggle switch to only allow power to the controller when you want it. Leave it on and the system would be the same as it is now. Now that I think about it, when I had my 6.9 GP controller in service, the wait to start lamp never came on when the engine was warm. The 6.9...
I'm thinking pull the valve covers and see if the valves follow the rockers when you bar the engine over. One of the valves probably is broken or has a bent stem. There is very little space between the piston top and the valves when the valves are closed. If a valve hangs up it will contact the...
Do you have the Ford seal that comes with an installation tool, or are you using a Speedy Sleeve with it's installation tool? If a Speedy Sleeve it may not be the correct part, as it should fit without excessive force. I tried pressing the Ford seal/sleeve combo by drilling out the four holes in...
Regarding the AC lines, my 85 was the same and was dealer installed AC. The AC under the dash was a separate unit from the heater and I removed it. My dash didn't have factory AC vents above the glovebox. A panel with vents had been cut in and all that is gone now. It looks like your dash has...
Was this a conversion from a gas engine to a diesel? The '85 came with a 6.9 diesel so as long as correct factory parts were used in the swap your clearance issues would be the same as stock. The pinch weld seam between the firewall and cab floor will need to be sliced and bent back.
Here is...
I don't think the oil filter will clear the cross member, so it has to go.
I'm not an auto trans guy, but have you removed the bolts holding the torque converter to the flexplate?
The motor mounts have two studs that go through the adapter plates on the front cross member. The usual way is to remove the nuts from below the cross member. The adapter plates should have four bolts through the cross member, two up high and two lower down. I see you have removed the two top...
When you removed the pump did you note the relationship of the static timing marks where the IP meets the gear cover? With the marks aligned it should run but it won't be properly timed. If they were offset before you should have installed the pump with the same offset. You will need a meter or...
You can remove the gear cover after you have removed the injection pump. The pump can be removed with all the injection lines attached. Remove the lemon shaped plate on the front of the gear housing to access the three 12 point bolts holding the gear to the IP. Bar the engine over to line up the...

Here is the one Towcat was going to use. I don't know if he has anything to report. The CDR and the Banks adapter to tap blowby from the IP gear cover are both 1", so I would think that would be the size to shoot for.

This thread from the tech articles is a good one.
