    Starting without glow plugs.

Interesting. I have a more cold blooded engine it seems. even on 100* days it will start way easier and smoother with the glow plugs. I could probably get it to light off without them even down in the 50s and 60s, but she sure doesnt like it.

Talk me out of it, please

Thats good. I dont know much about chevys, but I have 4-5 friends who are diehard chevy fans and in their Suburbans, trucks, and Tahoes over the years they all have had to replace many transmissions. They take good care of their vehicles, but they do tow campers and boats. It seems the...

Talk me out of it, please

I would be surprised if you get 13 mpg with that rv and TBI. If I remember right, I don't think those transmissions are known to last very long. Has it been rebuilt before? If not, it will need it sooner rather than later. The rust would bother me, but I am from California and unless you live...

    Who's smarter?

I understand the need for a newer truck the towing is light years ahead of what our trucks can do. But it sounds like the company provides a work truck for you? Does it not? why do you need to go out and buy one for yourself?

Intermittent Start but runs good when it does

You could run a fuel line into a jug and try to run the truck off that, to eliminate all the stuff before the pump. Maybe that could help you narrow down if you have a fuel delivery issue or not.

    Facet 40290 pressure issues

sounds to me like a bad pump if it just drops to zero while idling. or maybe you have a blockage in your line somewhere. I had shower head pieces blocking my pickups in the tank. Lots of people are running Holley blue pumps, and Reds. And there are some real good walbro pumps too. they are...

    Facet 40290 pressure issues

The quality in the facet pumps has really fallen off and as Kdo58 said they cant really keep up with a turbo very well. They are not really recommended anymore because of that. The older ones used to somewhat keep up, but it seems pretty much all the newer ones have issues and dont deliver...

    Ball joints

I have a '93 F350 with the Dana 60 front end and it has ball joints. I forget what year they changed from kingpins to ball joints, but it was before 1993. now maybe the dually has a king pin since somebody swapped it in.

    Injection pump leak

I had a new rebuild from a reputable builder leak at those fittings. Three of them actually. Couldnt get it to stop. Took the fittings off my old pump cleaned them up and used them and it stopped. The only thing we could come up with is looking at the fittings on the new pump there is slight...

Trailered home a 1989 F350 dump truck that looks great on the outside, but the 7.3 IDI is something else

I enjoy the long winding threads with lots of detours and and side quests as long as we eventually get to where we are going. That is what makes life interesting and brings the builds to life when we get to see all the other stuff involved along the way! That is a beautiful property. I would...

Trailered home a 1989 F350 dump truck that looks great on the outside, but the 7.3 IDI is something else

I would look into a current F-450 or F-550 rear spring pack. I have no idea, but they may have the capacity you are looking for and with the new hangers get the stance you want. Is your rear spring pack standard for an F-superduty? or is it a higher rated one since yours is a dump truck?

Trailered home a 1989 F350 dump truck that looks great on the outside, but the 7.3 IDI is something else

I think with the Holley pumps you want them as close to the tank as possible. They dont suck fuel very well, they are a pusher type pump. I second @IDIBRONCO I would put at least one filter before the pump and selector valve.

    Help a brother out...

They do fold in, but are super stiff. I found it easier to hit the mirror real ******* the end of it, rather than try and push with steady pressure. but be careful you may crack brittle plastic.

the sterling 10.25 and 10.5 are pretty much interchangeable. I know the newer electric lockers from ford drop right into the older 10.25s. I would assume that Detroit locker would work for either one as well.

    2025 i.p. builder discussion

CDD still builds pumps. They have been great to deal with for me. I know some guys have had a hard time getting ahold of them, but I think it has gotten better since he has some help now and its not just him. I believe @Old Goat is right in that Mels family still runs his shop. I think they...

7.3 idi build for my S1654

I love those old ford cabovers!! I have thought about doing a project like you are talking about many times. I have never been close enough to one to know if an IDI or a DT or even a 6.7PS would fit in them. Love both of these projects ideas!!

California ( and others ), RV's, and more laws...

Its actually worse. Have a friend in heavy civil construction he has a couple F- 450s and 550s. They need to be smog checked once a quarter, and I forget the actually year, but its some time around 2010 and older on the F450s and up, if they are diesel, you can not register them in...

    Another charging problem...

I would think if you are having to jump your batteries, so your batteries are low, and it is only showing 12.7 at idle then your alternator is not putting out enough. It should be higher than that. other thought is maybe your batteries are ok and your starter is going out or the connection to...

    Regulator Return Routing

Not according to Holley. That is just fine with the red or Blue. The Black needs a return line for the regulator.
