    Anyone using Mini Leaf Springs?

For smaller lift increments, a small spacer (like ORD's zero-rate) or longer shackles have worked for me. With the shackle moved to the rear of the spring, a longer shackles adds some caster angle - which is usually desirable.

    Rebuilding a 7.3 IDI Turbo

The "coffee table" TiDi book points out that keystone rings are an improvement over the NA engines. I can't say what the aftermarket has cooked up since. Maybe NA pistons are being made for the better rings?

Thinking Of Plumbing My Two Tanks Together

My Dad had a camper like that, and the stock spare location under these was too miserable to extract a tire from. He got some bracket to hold the tire on the front of the truck. With the tire gone from under there, he had a shop build a proper frame extension for 10k# towing. A little better...

    Death Wobble

99-04 axles fit 16" wheels, but they are the metric bolt pattern.

    Death Wobble

The 03 axle has 1" wider perch spacing, so it's not bolt-in. With a proper kit, healthy springs, and tight balljoints I'm sure you'll swap out your DW problem.

    Death Wobble

What year is the truck and axle? Kingpin axles are perhaps more subject to death wobble because the upper trunnions are not fixed, but rather spring-loaded. So when things start moving just a little bit funny, things can escalate. If you replace the axle with an '03.... no more kingpins. Worn...

    Death Wobble

Death wobble is usually a caster issue, compounded by other worn parts. A steering stabilizer can sometimes work as a short-term bandaid. If you are going to swap in a newer axle, you'll be doing some suspension mods regardless, so you can add some more caster at the same time.

    '03 axle swap

The perch spacing is wider on the front axle. That can be 'absorbed' with a reverse shackle kit (RSK) lift. If updating the master, I suggest going to hydroboost also. It's what the 99+ trucks have stock, and it made a huge difference on my '95 F350 for stopping power (still rear drum).

    1988 IDI Bronco

I've driven those, but 30-31" tires and a heavier truck. Edit: my rides usually have to make it 200-300 highway miles to begin wheeling.

ZF for a keeper truck imho.... especially if it has a diesel.

    Dually differences

Dually-hubbed 60 fronts came in std cabs only. What I know of the f250/350 pickup (OBS) frames, they are all the same channel size. Only the wheelbase changes. I wonder how much weight 4wd adds overall. This may have been a limiting factor on GVWR. The C&C trucks had a different, stronger...

    Dually differences

Same in Canada - crew/4x4/DRW did not exist from ford. That is a configuration the shop I worked at would build sometimes. Also supercab/4x4/DRW. Centurion (and perhaps others) did them too.

    Dually differences

There were definitely USA-made crewcabs. 25 years ago I worked at a shop that did a lot of salvage rebuilds on 90-97 F350's - many were crewcabs. When the VIN started with 1 (USA) it meant they had an easier time selling it - American customers didn't have to pay import tax to bring it home.

    1993 7.3IDI Turbo vs 1994 7.3 IDI Turbo

I fear this phenomenon is quickly becoming the norm. This stuff is 30yo, and salespeople in the business now weren't around then to know all the production-year (and mid-year) nuances.

    1993 7.3IDI Turbo vs 1994 7.3 IDI Turbo

I had always taken for granted the 93-94 were the revised engine design when equiped with a turbo; and that anything prior was a standard IDI with a turbo added on - either aftermarket or dealer. That's not to rule out the same turbocharger may have been carried over.

    Dually bed

I would rather have a flatbed or logger box to run duallies. Then you can flesh out the space under the camper sides with better storage.

Happy Birthday to me. Show me the pic's of your dually.

4 pallets is a purely academic statement - it fits! Being able to buy/pickup four empty IBC totes is handy. I too have hauled one pallet weighing 2tons (roofing) and that was enough!

Happy Birthday to me. Show me the pic's of your dually.

Fwiw, it is a 9x7' deck. It has turned out to be a very ideal size. 10' stuff fits diagonally. Can also fit four std 40x48" pallets. An 8' wide deck would be annoying for the narrow & winding roads around here.

I bought a parts truck for the flatbed. Then transplanted and modified to fit properly.

    Tires... Tires.... Tires....

What you are describing is the difference between a pickup and a cab & chassis model. DRW and SRW Ford pickups (77-97 anyways) have the same width/shape frame, ~38" rail width, and ~45" spring spacing.
