    Locking Hubs: Seeking Reviews

x2 on the warn hubs. The yukons are real hubs, mostly just copies of the old school spicer stuff. I have used a couple sets, that were difficult to lock and unlock until they wore in a little. The one set probably were locked/unlocked a couple? Hundred times, and several thousand miles of...

    Work horse or pig

Check to make sure you are getting full throttle at the pump. Very common for these cables to get stretched out. Power doesnt seem too far off of stock na 7.3, but maybe slightly less than what I remember my truck being, with 4.10 and e4od and between 7 and 8k behind the truck. Does it smoke...

    7.3idi Rebuild Cylinder Wear

It is interesting the differences in region vs mechanical problems. Maybe it is because there are so many cummins trucks around here, but I have personally seen the pin fall out of maybe 10 trucks. Most just broke the gear case. Mostly manual trans, worked trucks. But then how cavitation used...

    7.3idi Rebuild Cylinder Wear

Never have thought the old 12v (ve pump) engines were loud, timed correctly they are pretty mild.....the trucks they are in, have poor to no sound deadening. P pump engines timed mildly are not too bad, but add some timing....yep. Most 24v engines (vp pump) are dang noisy, dont know how...

    7.3idi Rebuild Cylinder Wear

I wouldnt say the 12v is overrated.....over used, put in stuff that is just not practical and stupid.....yes. If it can be put in for reasonable cost, and truck will get used in a way to take advantage of a diesel engine, 12v valve is a pretty easy yes for me. Especially if the truck is torn...

    Punisher valve bodies?

Stupid name, almost no description of what the product does, nope. My trans guy always recommends, and installs the transgo tugger kit. Never have had any complaints from them. One truck is right at 26k gross.....every day.

2000 shuts off but starts right back up idles/runs super smooth

Like already said, start with the cps, and check that dang nut is still on the ipr.....seen that one many times now. Also, make sure whatever is plugged into the ecm is in fully, and the connections are clean.

    Clean and test injectors?

You are not asking too much. These engines, with everything in reasonable condition and within the timing window, should make very little white smoke on a cold start, that goes away very quickly.

3.55 gears vs 4.10s with gear vendors

From what I have seen they will hold huge power, just dont try to back up a load with one, and gv used to say not to use one during engine braking. I have owned and used several of them and really do like them. They do have some limitations though.

3.55 gears vs 4.10s with gear vendors

Have not personally broken one either way, but like I said, have seen both happen On trucks I have worked on. I have seen plenty of threads on the sprag clutch getting broken, from backing, or from using them during engine braking. Funny, when I search now nothing comes up.....

3.55 gears vs 4.10s with gear vendors

My wording wasnt clear. Trying to back up against any kind of resistance, whether it is backing a load, or a rock, or a curb.... Even with the gv turned off, can can break it internally. They also hang way out there, and on trucks with 1 piece driveshafts, wheel hop can break them. Have seen...

    Vacuum pump teardown

Many years ago, younger dumber and poorer, used to pull them apart to make them work again. Ultra grey worked good for sealing a cracked diaphram, and the check valves could be replaced by the accelerator pump check valve from a 2150 motocraft.

3.55 gears vs 4.10s with gear vendors

Gv can break in reverse even if not engaged. It is the weak spot in them.....other than hanging a mile off the back of the t case.....steep driveshaft angles and/or wheel hop is bad for them.

3.55 gears vs 4.10s with gear vendors

3.55s truly brings out the suck in the close ratio diesel 4spd and 5spd. First and reverse are just too tall. I went from 4.10 to 3.55 in a truck that I have been driving for 22 years now. Maybe a slight drop in pulling power, but able to cruise faster and mpg is considerably better, even...

92 7.3 Driveshaft keeps sliding back out of carrier bearing

Based on the pictures, the t case did not push the carrier out of the rubber. Looks like to me, it was pulled out, and with the slip pulled that far out of the t case, the slip in the dshaft should be nearly bottomed......I would be checking that slip for free movement, and I suspect that it is...

It doesnt go through all the way. I dont think I have seen a 1356 that didnt have that there, speedo cable or not.

    C6 Lock up torque converter.

Have you called them to verify they do in fact have a locking converter setup for a c6? I remember a place working on this many years ago but never heard any more. must be for the truck in your signature, would really make that setup work.....

Interesting. Did you happen to look at the pinion for runout? Was pinion angle different after the swap?

New insight in IDI burning WMO - need high compression or turbo

There is nothing that will touch those deposits. Tried many different things, including water injection starting with clean injectors would still end up this way. Have not seen this with any other style of injector.

New insight in IDI burning WMO - need high compression or turbo

If those shields are easy to get and cheap, I would open that hole way up and see what happens. The 6.2_6.5 injectors looked like that shield was built into the injector body. Looks to be the same size hole on the end, that would always build up that same looking crud.
