The e4od WILL have reverse and some forward gear, seems like 2 or 3, even with no electrical hooked to the transmission.
Edit.. I guess my reading comprehension was lacking yesterday, as I thought someone had said that the e4od would not function at all without the tcm...
In the automotive side of things, alot of times ordering oe parts, for older stuff anyway, results in paying oe prices for aftermarket stuff in an oe box.
What lift pump do you recommend? So far all the current aftermarket ones are a crapshoot at how well they will work AND how long they will work at all. I have been against electric pumps on these since the mech pump was probably the most dependable part of a pretty dang reliable engine.....these...
Timing isnt to far off then. If the timing is retarded much they will miss and blow smoke. Although I should have had you do it with the cold advance disconnected.
A quick test that I do to see if they have enough timing to run correctly, as the spec is just a number that is counting on the...
That hose lets air off the top of the filter and out the return instead of being forced through the pump. If you dont make a habit of running tanks real low it will be fine.
Really....
The conditions I was speaking of, the engine started very quickly, like I had used plugs to start it. No smoke or roughness.
And, it needs a whole lot more than the plugs wired up, it needs a truck hooked up to it since it is sitting in the dirt with a radiator propped up in front of it
Started two this last week that had been sitting for 10 plus years, both with open fuel lines, as engines were removed. Both had minor fuel system issues that cleared up with heavy dose of diesel clean and an hour running each day for a week.
Dose it heavily with power service diesel clean. Use it just a little bit every day for awhile. Since fuel drained back some, could be varnish in places. Diesels typically do very well sitting even for a very long time, as long as the fuel sytem is tight.
Pop testing with a more viscous fluid is pointless. As is doing it with the injectors installed unless you have tested many and know what to feel for
I have heard of guys using diesel in a grease gun....
I have replied to many threads over the years, sceptical of claims of starting in warm weather without glow plugs. I have owned so many of these and even the ones that started good in cold weather still needed some plugs when it was hot out with a cold engine.
Well, I now have one that starts...
