You guys are talking about dumping the oil out of the lifters?
Never had any trouble with them bleed down on there own. Just tighten the rocker down a bit at a time and let it sit a few minutes between tightenings, and then some time before starting.
I have heard the emissions thing, and I will say that my truck has cleaner exhaust with them, but also pulls ( trailers) noticeably better, and gets better mpg doing so. Have tried them back to back against bb codes and d codes, same load same trip.
Anybody seen any of the g codes available anywhere? Anybody building injectors using that nozzle?
have a set that is getting pretty worn, and I prefer them over the other letter code injectors.
Had one almost exactly like this last winter. He had trouble getting the door closed because he had adjusted the strike to hold the door up higher. Finally got it closed and then it wouldnt open inside and outside handles felt like door was locked. He got the panel off, and I had to mess with...
Crazy to think, all these years of working on these I have only had a couple engines out. Done quite a few 6.9 headgaskets in the truck, lots of oil coolers on both 6.9 7.3. Have not had the heads of of a 7.3 other than aquired parts engines. These really are dependable engines.
Problem with the idi motors will probably be lack of support with quality parts. Already seeing no good mechanical lift pumps available, and as far as I know, the only injectors available (other than from the few shops that are enthusiasts in these old engines) are chinese, and already less...
Back to building bro-rollers maybe?
I dont really care if people come across rude online ( I am sure I sound rude sometimes because of my poor typing, english skills, or just too lazy to type out a gentler response).......
, but the arrogance that is assumed by lack of a response to a question...
I have never pulled one of these cabs for engine work, but plan to. Anything to watch out for vs the newer trucks that were designed to be worked on that way?
That is normal...ish.
scan tool?
Oil pressure show on the dash gauge?
If it did in fact have a hp leak and has sat, it can take lots of cranking to get it to run again.
Get it running first. I can for sure hear the light hole cranking, but you never know, it could straighten out with a little run time, or......its broke enough that it isnt worth fixing. Will know a lot more after running it.
Some of the newer steering gears are just better. Faster ratio and less effort. Seems like you have to go 2012 and newer in a ford to get that benefit. Have been using a 3rd gen 3500 dodge lately, the difference is huge.
