Oil leak down filter
That's what I am saying. I have to use a strap like that, or one fg the seat belt style, or I even have one that looks like a big set of channel-locks that I use. My point was, this is the only oil filter that I have to crank down to keep from leaking, and use a tool to remove. I've never had...- snicklas

Heat is turning cold... then hot... then cold... etc.
Do the brakes work OK, or do you have a really stiff pedal? Or, does the heat, or which vents changes when you press the brake pedal? On the IDI's the HVAC doors and the power brakes are run by vacuum from a betr driven vacuum pump. If your pump is getting weak, strange things can happen...- snicklas

Slow start at 47 °F ... Glow plugs?
Try starting as soon as the Wait To Start light goes out. At ~50 degrees, that 10ish seconds is correct. Once the light goes off and you see the sweeping of the voltmeter, that is doing the afterglow, which is perfectly normal... My opinion is you are waiting too long after the WTS goes...- snicklas

lI know that on all my IDI's and ones they other friends have owned, I've had to crank down the filter to good-n-tight...... the normal hand snug + a 1/4 turn always leaked..... only filter I've ever had that with...... Plus IDI filters are a bi**h to get off..... Everything I've ever...- snicklas

Need help
Need a bit more information, as 94 is an odd year for Ford Trucks. Is this an IDI, or a PSD (I see that it's in the PSD section) Automatic or Manual? So if this is a 94 PSD, it should be a manual..... Ford didn't put an automatic behind the PSD in 94, only behind the IDI- snicklas

I’ve heard it takes a 20x dilution to make it undetectible... Meaning 1 gallon of red diesel, would take 20+ gallons of green diesel to make it undetectable.....- snicklas

Time for a new GP harness
No... the 7.3 controller is what turns on the light. If you are bypassing by supplying a ground to the post the white wire is connect to, the WTS light won’t light. You could move the light (it is the wire with the connector in it) to the output side of the relay.... that would light the light...- snicklas

@miles1400, I'm not sure about WMO or WVO.... but if I remember correctly, in the code the is a "if this is personal, not-for-profit vehicle" they will let it slide... not 100% sure, but I've never heard of anyone getting "busted" for WMO.... but I have red diesel.... I had even heard part...- snicklas

Not the case in Indiana. They can dip any vehicle. I've seen them dip personal pickups when they pull away from the pump at my preferred station. My station sells both On-Road and Off-Road (red) diesel at the same island. I've even seem a trooper pull in, watch the person fill with red...- snicklas

It’s not that simple. The red die has a specific chemical composition they can test for... so just saying it ATF won’t fly.... In Indiana it a $10,000 tax evasion fine, per vehicle caught- snicklas

Why can't I adjust my timing while my engine is running?
You shouldn't adjust the timing while running because the shaft spinning in the pump will cause the entire pump to move and slam against the mounting studs. This can cause the driveshaft in the pump to snap, making the pump not usable as a core at most pump shops.... @Thewespaul may have more...- snicklas

P0672, P2290, and battery light?
I had an ICP fail on my 03. The 03 and early 04 replacing the ICP sensor sucks, as its on the HPOP housing. The late 04 and up, it’s out on the oil rail like the 7.3’s were. That is the only sensor. As mentioned, proper voltage is critical on a 6.0.. I killed my FICM due to a failing...- snicklas

The Bosch VE (rotary) pump, and a Stanadyne DB2 (rotary) pump are 2 different animals. Some pump designs last much longer than others.... Wes @Thewespaul would probably be the best to explain this.....- snicklas

You ohmed them.... that doesn’t mean they are good. I had a set that ohmed ok, and the truck wouldn’t start. replaced all 8 plugs and it fired right up. Just because you are getting voltage to the connector on the plug, doesn’t mean the plug is good or heating. The only way I would call a...- snicklas

If it cold starts with a whiff if ether, it's glow plugs..... Air intrusion, with working glow plugs, would be: glow plugs cycle, WTS Goes out, hit the key and it would start almost immediately, run for a few seconds, and die. 86 reg cab weight
A U-Haul trailer is rated at a max TOTAL weight of 7500lbs The empty trailer is 2190 lbs Max CARGO weight is 5310 lbs.... I get down that way fairly ofter.... if you need another set of eyes.... I could maybe stop by..... It doesn’t happen to be red? I saw a red IH pickup on a rollback a few weeks ago when I headed to Sams.... it was coming north on Emerson and went west on County Line.....- snicklas

6.9 idi problems
Did you change the thermostat, or do any work to the engine? Or did you just pull it from one and move it “untouched” to the IH? The lower radiator hose isn’t being sucked shut by chance? These engines move a ton of coolant and can suck the lower hose shut and cause all kinds of strange...- snicklas

Where does it go? Strange Wire
That’s the fuel heater in that picture.... that is not where the plug you showed earlier goes. The plug in your earlier pictures is for the Water In Fuel light and goes on a sensor on the bottom of the filter (the stock 2 piece filter)..... The fuel heater is a completely different plug than...- snicklas
