Zf5 fluid
The book calls for ATF synthetic. This is usually 10w or 15w oil. Using a light oil like this helps with your fuel mileage, but is not your friend if you tow regularly. If you tow regularly, I'd recommend a 30w synthetic trans oil. I use this in my truck that tows...- 264WSM

Has anybody sent in used oil samples?
Hope this works. Shows fuel dilution at 7%. Ive changed injectors and fuel pump since then. I only have 3000 on the oil now. I'll wait a bit before I take another sample- 264WSM

Looking at 6.9 to buy
I'd say that is a $1500 project truck. If you are willing to come to WY, I have an 86 6.9 with an auto trans that has a dually kit. There is a decent service/tool bed on it. $1500 takes it away. $900 if you don't want the service box.- 264WSM

Re treaded tires?
I have been running recaps for years, both on my p/us and my big trucks. On the Western Star I had 1 failure about 3000 miles after I put it on. Goodyear stood behind it and replaced it. If I would have brought them the piece of tread (that I left on the road) they would have paid for my...- 264WSM

ZF5 and T19 Switcheroo
Might want to check your diff gearing. The T-19 top gear is a direct 1:1, where the ZF is an OD (around .75 or so). Running a direct trans with 4.10 gears will be loud and will reduce your cruise speed quite a bit. Fuel mileage will be in the toilet too. A direct trans with 3.55s is livable...- 264WSM

Looking for a late-production 6.9 engine
I have an 86 that I am parting out. It ran 2 yrs ago when I parked it. The truck was from MI and is now in WY, so I'm sure it got block heater use. The C6, transfer case and dually axle are spoken for. It is an 86 chassis with a 91 cab- 264WSM

I'm putting a turbo on from a 94 IDI engine. The rubber seal that goes on the cold side is torn and needs to be replaced. Does anybody have a P/N for this? Know where to get one??
