The book calls for ATF synthetic. This is usually 10w or 15w oil. Using a light oil like this helps with your fuel mileage, but is not your friend if you tow regularly. If you tow regularly, I'd recommend a 30w synthetic trans oil. I use this in my truck that tows...

Might want to check your diff gearing. The T-19 top gear is a direct 1:1, where the ZF is an OD (around .75 or so). Running a direct trans with 4.10 gears will be loud and will reduce your cruise speed quite a bit. Fuel mileage will be in the toilet too. A direct trans with 3.55s is livable...
I have an 86 that I am parting out. It ran 2 yrs ago when I parked it. The truck was from MI and is now in WY, so I'm sure it got block heater use. The C6, transfer case and dually axle are spoken for.
