So as the saga continues....
I went to reassemble my oil cooler this past weekend and noticed on the cap that the end of the housing has a crack in it right on the very edge where the tube goes in. Its on the back side of engine.
Is this something I need to worry about?
If I need to replace it...
When i moved from Jax to Ft Worth I took 10 to 49 in La. Still the roads in Texas are crap and if on 40 youll have crap roads in Oklahoma as well as texas
Well I did find that there was 2 pieces of a seal in the end caps after soaking the cooler in my parts washer for 2 days to get the crap cleaned out. I also took a wire to the tubes to clean them out. Found half plugged up with RTV. BIG SURPRISE haha since there were no actual gaskets on the...
Sounds great man. Gotta say I am jealous a tad bit though. But seeing what you and the others guys/gals have done is why I am doing to mine what I am but in a much slower pace haha.
I have them all if you're truly interested in them but let me see if I can sell this complete. Give me a week or 2 to see if anyone is interested in complete set and if no one is then I will part it out. The seat belts are dirty but do retract
Yeah everything that I have read here and other forums all said 4. I guess the PO was really lazy on alot of things. There has been more rtv on this engine than gaskets.
I really appreciate yall and the knowledge you pass on Thanks Again.
I have looked at countless threads on this and on my truck there was only 2 orings not 4. Was there some years that only used 2?
Everything I have read says 4 so you can understand my perplexity on this.
Yesterday I pulled my oil cooler off (P.O. had used rtv instead of gaskets) the tubes were plugged up so used wire hanger to clear out holes and into the parts washer
Replaced valve cover gaskets and painted top of engine plus a coat on new water pump
Here’s couple of pics
Wish I had the time to tear mine down and the money to put new stuff in my ol girl. Especially since I have the body off. I know if I start pulling it apart I will end up seeing that she needs more than I got to put into her at t his moment.
Looks fantastic sir
Finished gutting out old cab so I have some trim an interior parts in the marketplace if anybody needs some.
My buddy made a jig to use our engine hoist to put new cab on when its finished. Pretty awesome contraption if you ask me hahaha.
Next will start gutting the new cab and get it ready for...
I have a 90 that I'm replacing the cab and bed on now. Just picked up the cab on Thursday last week and have to finish gutting my old one first then onto the new one. It sure is a daggum party I will say
Picked up my replacement cab today. put her on dolly's so it'll be easier to move around in my shop. Hope to get the old stripped down completely and out of the way this weekend. The new cab will be gutted as well and cleaned up for new carpet and probably refinish the dash with new paint too...
Guys,
Does anyone know what years are plug n play for this trans? I finally found one that from a 93 7.3 4x4 and want to make sure it will fit before shelling out more cash.
Also what years will work for a 90 7.3 4x4?
Well after getting all new engine sensors and the GPR we have the complete harness on the table and will be replacing the 2 yellow wires and the 2 brown w orange stripe wires with 1 6 gauge wire each with inline fuse. Also will be repairing any breaks in the wiring as well as replacing the...
