    Winter idle

My high idle is broken and I have idle set a little higher than spec but no issues in last 8 years. I can't see how the clutch would be affected since I always shift at higher RPM than idle, so?

    Gunson 7708 Timing Adaptor

What was the problem? I have an aftermarket #1 injector line and was able to get a reading, but I did have to sand the line a bit even with no paint on it and a little WD-40 on the line helped as well. I would think the problem would be the clamp rather than the entire unit. Anybody use a line...

    Gunson 7708 Timing Adaptor

Here's another site selling Tach & Time $240 https://real4wd.com/product/tool-kit-engine-timing-dynamic/ I guess I have taken a chance on a lot of old stuff here and there but so far almost everything has worked out. It's not like new stuff has an incredible track record either. I guess it's...

    Gunson 7708 Timing Adaptor

This is what I bought about 5 years ago so the price was a lot lower, https://www.ebay.com/itm/266660537286 . I measured an extra line I have and 1/4 seems to be correct. I know it's a lot of money for a seldom used tool but there is no substitute unless another forum member lives nearby and...

    Gunson 7708 Timing Adaptor

I also use the wireless tachs sold by DTI and they have worked great for setting/checking max RPM on chainsaws and other equipment.

    Gunson 7708 Timing Adaptor

One reason I like the DTI Tech-Time 3300 is that, based on what I've read, the founder of DTI is the same guy who invented the transducer that attaches to the injector line. These units still show up on Ebay for a decent price once in a while--supposedly new/unused one for $350 right now. Blue...

    Gunson 7708 Timing Adaptor

Some folk say the timing light method is easier than the mag pickup but I have only used the mag probe and it's pretty darn easy once you THOROUGHLY clean the probe hole above the damper.

    FlowKooler pump and overall pressure?

That ZF carnage sounds impressive. I guess if you're going to destroy something it might as well be total annihilation--half measures are for wimps. I mean, who gets a shrapnel wound from their transmission?

    FlowKooler pump and overall pressure?

That makes sense. So the rad cap controls overall system pressure regardless of variation in pump pressure.

    FlowKooler pump and overall pressure?

I just ordered up a new radiator from Classic Diesel Designs and am tempted to install a new water pump while I have everything apart. The FlowKooler website doesn't seem to offer any flow or pressure data but claims to increase both. I run a 7lb radiator cap and am wondering if the lower...

7.3 idi throttle position sensor question

A cheap-o OBD1 code reader can be helpful here as well.

    Punisher valve bodies?

Aw geez, I feel all warm and fuzzy after reading these posts. It's amazing how a transmission can bring folks together. Yeah I'll surely end up doing this myself and likely install one of the TransGo options. Sometimes between home repair, vehicle repair, property maintenance, and working...

Transmission issues- rumble strip & hunting OD

With those bronze flakes are you sure somebody didn't pour Goldschlager in the trans?

    Punisher valve bodies?

I would love to rebuild my own transmission and perform the right upgrades but at the moment time is tighter than money. Partly I am concerned about the little details I might miss such as proper polishing or deburring, and the cost of those mistakes can be pretty heavy. So maybe I'm wrong...

    Punisher valve bodies?

So I have been going back and forth between buying a shift kit and doing the work myself to learn something and hopefully slightly upgrade my trans. At the moment I am so damn busy with no end in sight, wood splitting time has arrived, that buying a valve body and taking advantage of someone...

    7.3 IDI excessive oil usage

Even if DOT does dip your tank don't they still have to test it? I have occasionally added ATF to soak the IP and always think about how long it might take before the red color is fully diluted.

    Regulator Return Routing

I had asked the owner of Classic Diesel Designs the same question and he said that for a Mr Gasket 105P, which is basically the same spec as Holley Blue, that the regulated return was not necessary and just to deadhead the fuel and use a regular regulator. But yeah I had the same...

Transmission issues- rumble strip & hunting OD

It's weird how some folks seem to have nearly bulletproof E4ODs and others just have the devil and then some. Looking through the receipts of my recent purchase, 1990 F350, the original trans lasted about 100k, an AAMCO lasted about 70k, and currently 55k on a reman installed by Ford. Fingers...

    A/C blows fuse #9 immediately

Installed a new diode with the cathode or strip side to the black/yellow wire and anode side to black/ground wire and everything works perfect now. New blower motor, heater resistor, heater core, and a freshly charged and converted A/C--bring on the heat & bring on the cold!

Dana 50 wheel bearing replacement, how in-depth should I get

When I first bought my 1992 I had rear brakes like that, and I think I drove the better part of a year with basically only front brakes. I suppose new drums will be in your future too.

Bad coolant leak for a few minutes during cold mornings

I have had two ring clamps that looked OK but had actually split and the connection was leaking despite visually checking out. Once I lost my lower rad hose and the other time I thought my thermostat housing was leaking but the clamp was allowing coolant to leak out at a steady rate. Constant...

    Summit Radiator?

FedEx Sux! I get more damaged packages from FedEx than all other carriers combined. The local driver/s also refuse to put packages in the logical spot or behind our gate where a large sign indicates the packages should be put. Often times the package is on the edge of the driveway near the...

    A/C blows fuse #9 immediately

I found some wiring diagrams for Ford A/C systems and across a range of years, gas and diesel, they show the anode attached to a black wire(Should be ground) and the cathode(The side with the line) attached to a black/yellow wire. Now oddly when I traced the wires down where they go into the...

    A/C blows fuse #9 immediately

So as soon as I activate A/C or Defrost fuse #9 blows. I can run heat and ambient air through the vents no problem. I removed the diode which seems to test OK but I still ordered some new ones. I tested the resistance at the A/C clutch connector on the compressor unit and got 2.2 ohms so I...
