    variable orifice tube ?

Well the kit I got was really just the basics for converting if the compressor is bad: 1 compressor 2 o rings 3 receiver /dryer 4 orifice tube. ( the orifice tube included was the r12 one, blue, so I got the recommended one, orange, for r134a. I think my compressor was going bad, that's why I...

    variable orifice tube ?

This is all great advice, and I agree the 8oz sounds like a smart compromise for oil. I also think less is more when it comes to the refrigerant charge. I've heard pressures rise too high with overcharging and things quickly go bad, so I'll fill slowly. I will leave the vacuum on for a few...

    variable orifice tube ?

aha, 1993 factory air was 2 lbs, 12 oz. of r12 . So I should charge 15% less of r134a?:Thumbs Up

    variable orifice tube ?

Thanks so much for the offer, I'm 90 miles east from what is now "Escape from New York" City lol. I was going to pour the oil into compressor, receiver/dryer and evaporator (total amount I'm not sure yet) after flushing out, then vacuum. I do have a good vacuum pump so should be ok. I gotta...

    variable orifice tube ?

Sorry for the confusion, I purchased the estor oil in bottles' to be poured into the individual parts. I'm still not sure of the total oil though. It seems somewhere between 7 to 10 oz. I've read on various threads, but a lot of discussions were of systems older than mine, 80's and pre '93.

    variable orifice tube ?

I really appreciate all the informed replies. I got really busy with work and life to sit down and respond until now. It sounds like the variable orifice tube will very likely be problematic, so I'll stick to the orange fixed. The blue variable one came with the kit from Rock Auto. With the oil...

    variable orifice tube ?

Well, I'm finally getting around to fixing and converting from r12 my AC, it died a couple years ago. Now with the truck running great with new IP, brakes, tires, smf and clutch, making long hauls this summer is pretty uncomfortable. I've purchased : compressor...

    Water pump install

Ok , I guess I should stick to an rtv silicone type. This thread sealant doesn't seem like it would fill very large voids, and these 4 bolts seem to fit loosely it the captured nuts. Thanks

So what did you do with your truck today?

Exhumis, I like that back up camera, is that double din? What model is that and where did you get it?

    Water pump install

I'm putting on a new water pump and I read in the tech articles that article about water pumps. The four bolts that need the sealant. Will this thread sealant do the job?

    Fan clutch

I think I'll follow this advice. Anti-seize has always been my friend, and it was hard as hell to get the fan off the old water pump, with no loctite. And I had removed the fan/pump as a unit to attack it on the bench.:smash:

    The right pre-charged anti-freeze

Thanks ,that is good news. I already have the Peak fleet charge and those 2 bottles of additive for further down the road. I'll just need to get those test strips for later

    Fan clutch

Thanks, that's good news one less thing to buy!

    Fan clutch

If I could add a question about clutches. My clutch is stiff to turn by hand when engine is cold.Does that mean it's bad? Also putting the fan/clutch back on after a water pump replace, how the heck do you tighten that big nut, how tight, and do you use a thread locker? special tools?

    The right pre-charged anti-freeze

I'm really confused with all the threads I've read on what can be used and what products are compatible with each other. On a recent 2k mi round trip I had just changed coolant before with peak fleet charge, reading here somewhere that it was good for our engines. ('93 F250 na copper...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Oh ok, that makes sense. It's just I never left the key in the on position without starting it for such a very long time.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Well , this is a case of learn from others mistakes. Yesterday I drove 1k miles round trip from Virginia to southeast Georgia to pick up my newly purchase trailer: 1# nice lady on the phone said trailer had standard electric plug. I asked "seven round pins?" She thought so. So no.. blade...

Rear mirror adhesive that actually works?

This is my attachment. It won't fall off.

Rear mirror adhesive that actually works?

Mine has fallen off about 5 or 6 times. One time it was glued on by a window shop. So I just drilled a hole through the base and used the center screw from the window trim. can't fall now. Anybody remember the old days when all mirrors were attached to the ceiling? They never came off and never...

New fuel filler neck, need expert advice

Those are some great plumbing set-ups for quick venting and fill. I'm sending back the new neck I bought and repaired the old one with hose. I think I'm going to do one of these upgrades when I pull the back tank.

New fuel filler neck, need expert advice

Oh that new one I bought has that little door, it's bigger than a gasser, but just big enough to slip a small diesel nozzle in it.

New fuel filler neck, need expert advice

Thanks, I just checked out Transferflow, and yeah there oldest kit is for a '99 now, but they have that short neck ISPKI, and foot long one with a 45 degree bend which is shaped a lot like my original just a couple inches short. Hmmmm.. Think I'm gonna check out some 2" pipe bends also.

New fuel filler neck, need expert advice

I just purchase new front filler neck for my '93 f250. It is diesel but has a flapper "door" that I'm pretty sure wouldn't allow the use of the large spouts at truck stops. I'm going to be pulling a 20" trailer long haul and I'm thinking I'll have to do some fueling at truckstops that may not...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Yesterday got my new IP from Conestoga installed with new return lines. Both were original to the truck. Static timed only but it runs great what power! Today removed front rusted out front bumper. Got a replacement cheap on eBay I'll put on tomorrow if it doesn't rain too much. Was gonna...

So what did you do with your truck today?

As of yesterday, changed the oil,and in my van, and coolant. Re-bled the brakes after all new rears, front pads, front left caliper (because the bleeder snapped off) and new parking brake cables. Brakes didn't feel right til I remembered about bleeding the abs down on the frame. out of sight...
