    Found this old dude

My brother found this1984 F350 for sale. Owner said make offer. Engine replaced within past 2 years (with a used engine) not 100% sure if it's a 6.9 or a 7.3 I would think the 6.9s are getting scarce, so maybe a 7.3? Engine info sticker on valve cover says 6.9, but it could be from the original...

My IDI died on the roadside today

Mr nelstomlinson, that is some crazy math you are using. In my book "cool" does not = -10 That's just down right FRIGID. It was 42 here this morning and that's too cold for me. Poor old truck. LOL!

Wow!! Awesome job!! That's along the lines of what I want to do. I'm all about "do it once, do it right, and make it fail proof" (as best as possible) Thanks for the detailed write up.

For guys with the carter p4070

Mr Gerlbaum, you ordered a 38 gal tank with same year model as your truck? What about sending unit? Did you do any mods to it? How did you run your return line? I have a 1984 F250 I want to convert to the 38 gal as there are issues with both of the factory tanks. Thanks

ARP stud install and engine tear down

Wow how long has water been in the cylinders? Are the cylinder walls pitted?

What is this on my 1984 6.9 idi

Yes please post if this unit will fit a factory 1984 filter head. I see it's a 2 micron filter. I was contemplating a set-up like this.

    1994 f250 turbo project

David, I have the same concern with my IP. Fresh injectors and engine. I received a suggestion basically the same as icanfixall gave. My pump is off the engine and it was suggested I clean the pump very well and remove the triangular plate, pour in ATF and shake it and dump out. Repeat as...

Welcome, I'm east of Dallas as well. About 1.5 hours east. I have learned a lot on this forum, and you get really good info. I am in the middle of my first diesel rebuild. 1984 6.9 with old school Banks turbo kit.

Intake Manifold and valve cover powder coating

At that mileage I would have the heads rebuilt. My engine had 90k miles on it and had 4 burnt exhaust valves.

    1994 7.3 F250

Hey guys, I've spent the last several months on the 6.9 IDI forum as I have a 1984 F250 I'm in the process of rebuilding. Today I ran across a guy I've known for many years. He has a'94 Crew Cab, 8' bed, with manual trans. I think he maybe the original owner. He also has a 2003 f350 he uses to...

A length of heater hose works good too, plus it's flexible. Put one end to your ear and probe around with the other end.

Cast Aluminum Master and Slave Cylinders on sale!

Sounds like the hyd clutch system is a big pain. What about converting to old school linkage? What would that require, if it can be done? I have an 84 f250, 6.9, and I also have a retired 82 f150 with the T-18 trans. Thanks

    Strange IDIT lubrication failure...

Since it is relatively a low mile engine, I would tend to agree with idibronco's. Poor or no maintenance, probably sludged up? For what it's worth, when I tore down my '84 6.9 with 90k on it, I found lots of clear silicone stopping up several tubes in the oil cooler, red silicone stuck in the...

    6.9 head studs

Thanks Wes. Kind of my thinking too. A buddy of mine from Austin runs a 800 hp, n/a Hemi Cuda on the street and mentioned it. I know for a gas engine especially, when boring a block it's best to use torque plates, but this is just a simple, light hone.
