Been doing some digging into weight regulations out here for importing an idi ..... my old f150 is pretty tidy and while i can/ could convert it if i have to. iv'e been wondering if i could get a F250 to comply with our 7700lb rules which would save me doing a rhd conversion. That would mean i'd...
Is this a fair representation of value for one of these in cali?

Non turbo 5 spd 92 ex cab 4x4 $2500 with some niggling issues
It's not a bad idea - we have 6 monthly ones here for commercial (over 3.5 ton) and vehicles made before 2000. newer light vehicles have an annual inspection . About $120 - $250 for commercial depending on axles and weight and about $50 for light vehicles. Over here people don't maintain...
Yes i was planning on either cutting down the welldeck or building a custom flatdeck - i was thinking about buying a complete F250 idi and bringing that back to piece one truck together from 2. Ive spotted a c/c conversion online and the owner said he did a 2 inch body lift to clear the kick up...
Just my 02 worth - run the pump between the tank and filters ..... this will make bleeding the system way easier. Done a similar thing to an old jet boat we were running an LD28 in.
Well i've been bothering you guys in here for a wee while now and have been kicking this idea around of swapping a c/cab onto my r/cab 87 f150. It would be preferable and much simpler to just get myself an f350 c/c 4wd but the way our laws are setup out here that would mean the truck would...
Yes it got like that here for a while too .... one company was travelling the length of the island collecting it , refining it and selling it. It was really attractive for a while when diesel was up around $2.00/litre but now with prices around the 1 -1.30 mark it became uneconomic for them. I...
Just managed to pickup this wvo plant - thinking i'm going to convert it to a wmo setup.
The guy who had has made over 50000 litres of biodiesel with it and was only selling it because he has upgraded his truck fleet to late model common rail and they don't like it - he said he probably could...
Been lurking around the site for a wee while now and googling away on idi trucks. My problem is that if i get any idi truck i have to convert it to rhd (mega expense) and put it into a heavy duty safety inspection regime as they are over our weight cutoff levels by 300kg or so. Soooo i came up...
Did you get these 2.5 t diesel model ranger? - they were a good little engine that stood up well to abuse.
This one should be 1/2 the asking price as it has high Ks

Yes the bit that worried me about that advert was the fact he said that it couldn't be worked on in the storage facility ..... been caught before like that :( , when something is too good to be true ...... it normally has a fishook or two. I think you're right about the gasser sc track - i'd get...
Thanks for your help guy's , i think that i'll either bring back enough gear to convert my 87 or i'll bring back a 1/2 ton ext cab 4wd and enough parts for a zf idi conversion ..... i do a bit of work on small jap diesel trucks so i have a few smaller turbos laying around my workshop - reading...
Yes the last trip a friend came with me and we wound up bringing 2 c3 corvettes and a 79 K10 swb back ...... the truck was cheap and we spent more on paint and panel plus interior and some mechanical work than we actually made on it. First trip over i brought a nice 93 bronco for 5k and it flew...
That 2nd one would be handy as we use west coast shipping in San Pablo for shipping ..... it's going to be either sept oct this year or april /may next year before the next trip over though. What we normally do is try and buy something that we use to run around in collecting parts etc and ship...
About the only time you have to replace the injection lines is if they are damaged ...... on later models such as 3.0 hilux (i think you guys call it tacoma) with the 1KD series common rail engines , Toyota recommend that the lines are replaced after being undone and re-tightened more than 3...
We never really had very many of these trucks out here ....Australia built them up until about '93 in the bricknose style .... they used bullnose interiors all the way through from about 83 until then though. These earlier cabs tended to rot out badly so it is a little hard to get your hands on...
Thanks for the replies guy's , the entry cert team here use the gvwr data from the vin and door tag to put the vehicle in the system so rerating (used to be common here too until the govt bureaucrats got greedy) may not "get me over the line" .... bit of a grey area that could come back and bite...
Hi guy's , I'm keen on bringing back an F250 idi to New Zealand and ideally will wind up with a super cab 4x4 '87 - '94 ZF5. My problem is that as we are RHD over here once you bring something in that is over 7700lb in glw , you have to convert it to RHD ..... my f150 is ok but the 250 will...
Hi , I have a 87 F150 5.0 Aod sclb that i use as a d/d ..... with gas costing just over $7.50/gal and diesel costing about 1/2 that i'm looking to get myself a idi. I've been lurking around the forum for a few weeks trying to soak up as much info as i can and will probably be asking some silly...
Shipping can be a pain in the behind :) , i have that same issue when trying to bring parts out from the states. Maybe you could try using this for an option - i'm sure they'd drop off with local courier to start with.

Hi - you could try these guy's , they have a lot of older parts.
They are just north of Brisbane Qld Australia.
