Here is what that CHUFF noise in the exhaust means

idi_econo, Where you at? I have these from tooldiscounter and find it to be usable. Took three tries to get a gauge that read zero out of the box but tooldiscounter was great about taking care of me and even called me to get it resolved. If you're near me and want to borrow it, let me know...

    Lamest thread yet...

What an idjit. I had to come on here to be told that it was normal for the factory lug nuts on mine to be what amounted to an interference fit. Neighbor offered to loan me his 4-way so I could "spin" them off. That wasn't going to happen. An hour with the impact wrench and my wienie...

what would you guys pay for this really help

I'm guessing his reserve is somewhere above $2k. Here's the other side of the coin. How much would you pay me for an engine I had rebuilt and didn't change the oil in for 35k miles? Upgraded turbo, 90cc pump and no intercooler? In a wrecked truck? How many times has the EGT been pushed...

    500ma draw from where...

A 6 watt something. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Pull the wires of your alternator to see if there is a draw there. Then you've got it -- pull fuses. Hopefully between the two you can isolate where the draw is coming from.

TECH 101 86 down, 87-91, 92 up Std pedal assemblies!!

If you are trying to decide which to look at first, I'd be real interested in knowing if the 92+ fits on the 86 cross pin and how close the pin on the brake pedal lines up to the center of the master cylinder mount on the 86 bracket. Everyone said, use the late model pedal but I think they were...

    CDR Explained

John, Thank you for dispelling the myths. I have a thought on excessive oil consumption. I may have to test it one of these days. Bad valve cover gaskets will prevent any intake vacuum from being able to create vacuum in the crankcase. We end up with a hole in the back of the intake via the...

7.3 IDI IP fitting for fuel feed

Kc0 I would call Conestoga. However, If that is the fitting, wouldn't a hydraulic store have one for about 5 bucks? Have a look at the JIC to SAE adapters here http://www.hydraulicstore.com/products/connectors/oringtojicadapters.html

Brakes pump up, then slowly sink to the floor BUT no leaks???

Ford has a tsb on this. If you find no leaks, do a search for "zero loss booster" and see if that matches what you have going on.

    Motor died suddenly!

Did you depress the scrader while she was cranking? That should be the filtered side of the filter head. What is this fuel gauge at the filter head of which you speak? Is that a pressure gauge? If so, what pressure were you seeing? If you did suck air, crack all the lines, floor the pedal...

Moose Product News - Announcing the Moose Junior

Mel, That's good news. Sounds like a " performance pump designed for non-intercooled engines and increased performance on normally aspirated engines." Feel free to steal that. For us lazy people, can you throw out the numbers on the baby and full moose for comparison.?

want to install a powerstroke alternator on my idi ???????????'s

Wanted to add. Ignore colors beyond using them to try to find what may be the wire you are looking for. Your alternator has what appears to be a red wire coming off the A terminal. The color isn't important. Knowing the A terminal reads battery voltage tells you it should be ran to battery power...

want to install a powerstroke alternator on my idi ???????????'s

Cb, That top picture you gave is a 3g alternator. That is your current alternator so I am not surprised the article is confusing. Go here http://oldfuelinjection.com/?p=63 Scroll down to the 6g section and see if that is your alternator. If it is, look at the first diagram, hook the...

    Turn Signals Not Working Right

Sounds like a flasher. It us just a bimetalic strip that gets hot groom the power drawn NY the bulbs and then opens the circuit.

    Turn Signals Not Working Right

You can usually switch the hazard flasher with the signal flasher to test your flasher. Then forget to replace the bad one until you need it. If your dash indicator is on, the bulb at the front and rear should also be on. Please don't ignore flasher issues as your brake light wires run...

    Refigerant vs. Oil ??

If you don't have a proper vacuum pump, it would probably be best to have a shop do this. Oil doesn't evaporate so you only have to replace what you dripped out when you opened it.

    obs or brick nose F350

When I was reading about e40Ds, it seemed that 95 and up was the years to look for. Baumann says: "If it becomes necessary to overhaul your E4OD transmission, you should perform as many updates as possible if it is a pre-1995 unit. E4OD component updates include, as an example, the following...

how good are the ZD9 glow plugs for manual button systems??
