We have two. Yes my son’s is the custom super duty. It has the set up for 5th wheel, hydraulic hook ups and air for hauling big trailers. Someone welded two beds and did the conversion. No sure what it would’ve looked like originally. The one that I’m having trouble with the blue smoke is the...
Changed the oil and it helped the engine light issue at start up. Still smoking though so was going to tweak the timing to see if I can get any improvement. Any suggestions for testing without equipment? If I mark the timing location can I set it back to default easily? I know how to shut engine...
It puffs a bit on start up. Blows big clouds out if you step on it after it’s been sitting for a little bit or running idle for a while. If you get out and step on it and blow it out really good the smoke seems to clear up quickly.
Oil change seems to have stopped the engine light from delaying to shut off. It shuts off immediately now. The oil pressure gauge is better but still lazy and drifting so I’m going to need to get that done.
It’s definitely lost some oil quickly. So, starting with, clean cdr, fresh filter and oil, smash some hills and hope for some improvement ..
How do you do the timing on one of these?
It runs pretty great but I think it’s losing oil out the tailpipe. I checked it and it seems to be down a little bit from topping it off in a rather small amount of time. It’s got great power for an idi non turbo. Cool upgrade, it has a c6 with the od unit added.
Thank you. I will go ahead and replace the cdr valve. I will run the oil flush like you suggested unless anyone objects to the sea foam method. I have never put anything in engine oil before so it makes me a little bit nervous. Tempting to go ahead and do Ip and injectors for $900 if I get to...
Ok yeah thanks, I’ll try that first. A few new aftermarket gauges and an oil change are definitely on the list. I really haven’t driven it more than a couple hundred miles so far since I bought it a few weeks ago. Drove it to the market a few times and took it to get some side boxes and to get...
I have a 1988 f250 idi and it blows some blue clouds when you step on it a little bit.
Clean truck, appears to have been taken care of pretty well. Lower mileage 121000. Hoping to come up with a list of things to try in order from easiest to most difficult. All input will be appreciated.
I have a 1988 f250 7.3 idi. The dash engine light comes on at start and takes a few seconds to shut off. Sometimes it even takes an extra 20-30 seconds or so to shut off. Any thoughts? All your input will be appreciated.
