Hey what kinda parts are you needing that are white? I’ve got a white crew cab that is a parts rig now that I pulled the drive train and slapped it into my blue truck.
What I am thinking is a it was way to advance to begin with, to much fuel pressure advanced it some more, plus whatever the timing advance was for the cold start. That plus the old pump trying to keep up with new injectors. It has some stiction eleminator in it. But I’ll add some more stuff
Turned out from my own ignorance or maybe it was always like that (the crew cab did run like crap) the wiring for the FSS was wired into the cold start advance AND the high idle. So it was always advanced
He is running a hell of a lot better now.
He is alive!
Took allot of work to get here. Old pump had to go on to get it going, but now that I know what was going on, should go back together just enough to make it to NobS OBS
Them are the exact same springs I went with. I haven’t gotten to do the axle swap yet. But I’m debating on having a spring shop rearch them back to factory specs. Still would be cheaper than buying brand new for me.
I’m gonna use my factory rear springs and use f350 lift block and call it good.
On another note I went to The Dalles, OR to do a contaminated material offload. Got bit by a spider, my ******** didn’t go to the doctor (probably should have) but spider bites weren’t the crowning achievement of my trip.
Other than a sensor issue my crane caught on fire (electrical) with a full...
Sorry for the nearly 2 month hiatus. Had to go work outta town for a bit. I’m busting my ass now that I’m home getting this thing out back together, as I’m trying so dam hard to make it to NO BS OBS this year.
I’ve been having a bleeding the injectors problem. I can’t get the pump to send any...
Pretty stoked, got keyed power hooked up to a relay inside the cab to power all the other crap I’ve put in. Gauges trans controller, fass fuel pump, and at some point my inverter.
I’ve got some trial and error on how to mount the trans controller this time around, I want to make it cleaner but I...
I’ve taught myself every welding process I’ve ever done, luckily I’ve made a hell of a living off welding steel. But 3 days into aluminum leaves a lot to be desired.
What a Memorial Day weekend.
Got a new long reach jack (killer thing lifts nearly 26”)
Got stuck in the mud hole instead of doing the things I needed to. Then spent WAY to long getting out
Got some brackets back on before hitting the hay from a long weekend away.
Man after being away it just...
Man life really got in the way of keeping photos and updating like I would have wanted.
But
It’s finally in.
Pro tip
If you want to set the engine complete with turbo setup and trans on….
Just pull the front cab mounts jack it up about a 2x4 width, stick said 2x4 in the space and holy cow it...
I do have a russrepair type4 cam sitting in my garage. I mistakenly bought both (over a year apart and found the other on the shelf while rebuilding) willing to sell n ship.
Slowly coming together, waiting on a few odds n ends to get blasted so I can cerakote them.
Side note, getting back to some more stuff. I keep getting reminders of Russ everywhere I look in this shop
Man these vevor ultrasonic parts cleaners really take the boring tedious time outa workin on stuff, wish I bought one earlier. I can set it up as soon as I get home and it’s hot by the time I’m ready to come out. Half hour and bam nearly brand new bolts.
Man oh man do I miss Russ. I had a slight panic then remembered something I saw in a thread a while back and lo and behold it was he who posted it. 1/8” compression nut shaved a bit down and smacked in. For the repair of the thermostat housing ball.
Took a good bit of the afternoon to get most of the heat/sound insulation in, I’ve got some more for the fenders (to not sound tinny) I know some peoples opinion on this stuff, the only difference is this particular product I get to see first hand everyday at work on tugboats. So I know this...
Little update it’s been hard to work on it with my now previous employer taking me 9hrs from home .
But as I say in the hotels after work I just couldn’t sleep with the fact I was putting used pistons back into my build. So with some effort and the swipe of a card, a brand new set of Mahle...
Got a few things done this weekend. Got the broken and stuck injector body out.
I absolutely hate that the machine shop didn’t do it when they were rebuilding the heads. I didn’t notice it and set the heads aside over a year ago and didn’t even look at them after picking them up. Anyways got it...
