I did find the line that goes to the hubs however there is no vacuum on it while the pump is running. I put the selector 4x4 switch on and still no vacuum. I must have a leak somewhere else. when i pull the main off the pump it shuts off instanly so I know the pressure switch works. So my...
I was able to free up the factory manual hubs. Checked and they worked. Got to remember that I have to back up to disengage. That sucks. Now I have to find the best place to close off vaccum lines so I can get my heat back on dash. havent had a chance to do that.
I figured that might be the direction I would have to go. Now this morning I get in the truck and for the very first time I could not control my cabin heat flow. Its all defrost now. I will have to try to find those hub supply lines at the pump and seal them off.
I went to put my truck in four wheel drive the other day during snow storm and so I turned the switch on and dash lit however front wheels had no power. Manual hubs do not want to turn. Never used them anyway as long as i had the truck. Everything else that would normally work on vaccum still...
I read that zerex g05 and the ford gold are equals and the local pep boys carries it. After checking under the hood it seems that the only way to fill is through the overflow reservoir, Is this so. Should I change out my t-stat and if so should I go with a 200 degree stat. I am also...
Well after getting material together ya all were right. It took about 10 minutes to install. Little more noise in the cab but nothing I cant tolerate.
Thanks again.
First thanks for the input. I have the filter and material to install. One more question before I install. There is another plug in the side of the filter box on the fresh air side of the filter. What is done with this sensor.:dunno
I was browsing through some old threads and found mention about k & n drop in filter replacement. Seems like its not a favorite of members. When I bought my truck the previous owner had installed one. I have maintained this filter but I am open to suggestions. What should I replace it with...
I must agree if the sticker didnt come from this web site, thats wrong. It was a nice looking sticker promoting this site. Hell its how I ended up here. Maybe its a sticker idea to consider.
Looking at that thread you refered to looks like opening a can of worms all over again. The sticker I saw may have been home made. It looked identical to the oil burners name that is at the top of the home page minus manufactures emblems. dripping oil and everything. It was sweet.
The other day I was driving and I saw an Oilburners sticky in a truck window. Thats how I found out about this site. Are these stickers available any where. let me know. Love this site Thanks:thumbsup:
Well I hope you are right. I can live with a noise that may not result in further damage. This is my first deisel truck and with all the new sounds they make Ill just add this one to the list.
Thanks for everyone input. Look forward to future post.
Well I give, after several hours today looking I still end up at the same spot. The noise is the loudest at the oil cooler. Particularly at the front of the cooler. Maybe its time to take it to an experienced deisel mechanic or someone with deisel knowledge for a listen. Which leads me to...
I guess anything is possible at this point however it will have to wait for tommorows daylight. Noises can be such a pain to locate. I do appreciate all the responses and hope I find something soon......
Well, I found the source of my problem however I have no idea what the part is that causes it. By using a very long screwdriver as a stethescope I found the source of the noise. Now if you look inside the drivers side wheel-well at the motor, directly under the exhaust manifold is a round...
THANKS FOR RESPONSE'S
I ll look into the vac pump. Drove truck to and from florida from jersey with oil change before. Sound was always there.
temp was in the 80's everyday.
Where is vac pump located and is there any test to see if bad other than noise?
Gettin a hum from the motor compartment but cant pin point the spot. Sound increases with rpms. Checked the obvious pulleys.. no loss in power and performance.
