Get one of those stickers that says "Prius Repellent" and put it above the tailpipe :sly
My pump is turned up but my worn-out turbo is only making 6-7 psi at best. So if I slam the pedal down instead of rolling into it, I get lots of smoke. Useful for dealing with tailgaters and other...
When I got my (NA) truck, it had a stock Y-pipe sloppily welded to a straight 3" pipe dumping out the right rear. Way too loud for me in the cab, let alone the bystanders... first thing I did was get one of those big round Walker "garbage truck" mufflers installed. MUCH better.
Then I put a...
Dog and I got a big load of cut blocks from the local sawmill. I am always amazed at how much better the truck rides when it has over a ton in the bed vs. empty.
The test he's doing (for voltage while the alt is running) is not affected by the batteries being paralleled. There may be a slight difference if one is drawing more current than the other. Slight. Not 1.17 volts!
Figor, you have a bad connection somewhere at the batteries. Try measuring every...
Hang on a sec, Bronco ;) The EGT is what's coming out of the exhaust manifolds, whereas I was concerned with the temperature of the compressed air exiting the turbo (and before it's cooled down by the intercooler). That temp is likely to be as high as 300F under boost also... when not in boost...
Just wondering if the pipe from the compressor to the intercooler should be left unwrapped... the idea is to get rid of heat and the underhood temp will be less than the compressor outlet temp (when under boost). :dunno
the cartridge is a turbo assembly without the snail housings. Compressor wheel, turbine wheel/shaft, center section with bearings and seals. ATS had several different turbo setups for the IDI and the 085 is one of them. (Not sure if that's the factory turbo setup or not).
Edit: looks like Wes...
If I remember correctly, the vent flex hose is just slid onto the barb. The other end of that piece also passes through the brass block on the end of the rear hose, and threads into the axle? Just unscrew it once you pull the vent tubing off.
Today I again looked longingly at the truck sitting in the yard. I had a 12 mm kidney stone "blasted" (lithotripsy, under general anesthesia) on Monday. Stent in place at least until next week, maybe another week after that. Feels like someone's kicking me in the left flank on every pee because...
If you're lucky, it's just the oil seal where it's wet, so change that while you're changing the U-joint. It's possible to fracture an aluminum-alloy transmission case from a driveshaft slinging around, but hoping you slowed down quickly enough that it didn't beat out the housing.
Once you get...
Heck, I'll give you your money back and a couple hundred more to make you feel better :)
HOW are IDI's found so cheap in Texas, when they are definitely not cheap in Missouri? :dunno
I'm a bit late to this party, but...
As already pointed out, our IDI's do not have any throttles in the air intake.
However, my old '73 Mercedes 220D did indeed have a throttle body, with a ported vacuum line that ran to a diaphragm on the Bosch injection pump - the IP actually was regulated by...
Yeah, but 15 miles to the quart? That's 25% of the fuel consumption!
Could the turbo be pouring that much oil into the intake without causing a runaway? :dunno
Weasel? My brudda, he killed by weasel. He drive hotmobile, cross train tracks, no heara da weasel LOL
Yes, Facebook is a data mining operation, which is why they can provide their platform free of charge. They sell your data to other companies. BUT you don't have to tell them any more about...
And you're positive it is not from the bottom of the WP gasket, trickling straight down to the front seal? The only things I can think of that leak less when warmed up would be a gasket/loose bolt, or the WP seal itself :dunno
Will be interested to know what you find once home... start taking...
That is weird... especially since there's no cooling passages near the front main seal that I can think of! I don't know how antifreeze could get back there from a crack and not mix with the oil, also.
How big a leak is it (can you drive it home?)
Can you pressurize the cooling system (with the engine hot) and look for the actual leak while it's happening? The IDI is the worst vehicle I own to see where a leak is really coming from... like a roof leak, it's nowhere near where I thought ;)
If it's not from the water pump and its gasket...
Why can't you steer it? Takes more muscle (mostly a problem when standing still) but the steering column is mechanically connected to the pitman arm with or without the hydraulic assist!
Now the lack of power brakes could be an issue if you don't have a big leg, but again the linkage is still...
IDI's have a compression ratio of 21.5:1... there is a really really small compressed volume and piston to valve (and head) clearance. So it only takes a few cc's of fluid sucked into a cylinder to hydrolock it. Breaks rods, pistons or cylinder heads.
Gas engines by comparison have lots of room...
