My neighbor said to me I should sell both the 87 and 91 and maybe I could get a newer truck with a turbo for towing. And he's only talking maybe a 2000 ish powerstroke. I said no I'll invest in a turbo eventually for the 91. The cost of diesel sucks but it's still cheaper than a newer truck with...
Thanks all . I've been working so I haven't had much time to research. From what I've seen Banks sells a complete kit--exhaust which I don't need. I haven't seen any other variation for sale. Wes' kit is complete-oil lines, gaskets and all? I see the turbo needs an oil line but didn't see it on...
Was just on Hypermax's site and they have a kit without exhaust. I think I know the answer to this one but I'm gonna ask anyway--stud it or no. The 7.3 is a ******. Never been opened up. Runs like sewing machine. I don't have a garage or lift like I did up north so pulling the motor to stud it...
Well I thought I never really needed one, but after my first heavy run with the dump trailer I've come to conclusion that my truck is a complete slug. Maybe about 6 ton total it drives and stops great, but when you need to get up to speed in traffic it's embarrassing. I've stupidly never paid...
what I did was take one of the glow plug fittings in the kit and cut it down to the same length as a glow plug, minus the tip. Then I chamfered the end I cut so it would get a good seal against the head. Worked fine for me.
I deleted the rabs valve on my 87. It was always damp looking where the wires would go into it. Once i deleted it I finally had good braking. Not that these things brake good to begin with, but it stops better.
I was thinking of the body bushings too. Looks like a body lift was done. Maybe have to fab up some spacers to go on the bottom of the rubber bushings.
What color is the tps on the pump? If it's a black one iirc you need to change to the gray one. Look up the article on setting the voltage for the tps. Maybe Trackspeeder will see this.
You can't find anyone to retank or repair radiators. They are gone. I ground strapped my aluminum one also. A place up in Myrtle said they had one, but for $1300. Yeah right.
I just put in a Champion 4 row iirc. Def runs a little hotter. Pulled my dump trailer yesterday and noticed that. But you really have no options left. Mishi or Champion.
Bart, I went with the Tekonsha proportional. I have it on the 87 and no probs. And Black Dawg, I've read here and other sites along with the local mechanic that you back it out slightly. When I resealed it I might have left it a little sloppy. The mechanic told me to remember where it is set...
The local tire guy, who seems pretty decent, gave me a price of $440 for 2 Hankook 235's. I think I paid 110 a pc for 215's 2 years ago when did all 6. The fronts wore funny because the ttb bushings needed to be replaced, which I did. 220 a tire installed sounds a little high.
