I’d just like to say that I am so out of my element with cars that need to be smogged. But I guess there’s more to life than carburetors and Injection pumps.
Carrick customs has a really nice a/c bracket but it is for the serpentine style compressor. As far as an adaptor plate I’m assuming it’s the same as a zf5 one because the bolt holes are the same and you don’t need to change anything when you go from c6 to zf5 on and idi anyways. I’m not sure...
After further investigation it absolutely destroyed the passenger spindle. Pretty pissed off at myself for not catching it sooner. I think my best option is swapping the guts out of this axle into my old one.
On a lighter note, I’ve never really taken advantage of Black Friday or cyber Monday shopping but today I bought a diy traction bar kit and saved a very solid amount of money.
I put a new U joint in. I jacked it up to spin everything just to make sure everything is good. The passenger side nut that holds the hub/spindle on backed off and absolutely destroyed one of the bearings!!! I have no idea what I did wrong. I torqued it down and backed it off a few clicks like...
I hope you all will find this as comical as me. Yesterday I swapped my axle in. I noticed that the rear u joint had some play and Im just assuming the pinion bouncing around effected that. New axle is awesome though. I get home. My friend comes over in his 97’ 7.3. We go to look at the car I...
Yeah like if I was genuinely looking for a good car to BUY I definitely wouldn’t have bought a beetle but it was too good a deal to pass up. It’s one of those things that I’m not gonna waist my time on if it starts to do stupid crap like what you just said.
Today I bought my first car. A 2003 VW Beetle, it was 500$ Because it wouldn’t pass smog and literally needed spark plugs. I don’t mind that I look like a moron in it because the old 6.9 isn’t really as enjoyable to drive every single day when fuel is 4.75 a gallon.
I helped my friend go get this weird engine with a bunch of wires and sensors so he can spend money to make it slow. Just like we do, but with less sensors.
My idi, if I really think about it, idles a lot. I do a lot of driving in town and commuting. Sitting at stop lights and waiting in traffic honestly makes up a lot of idle time. I go through drive throughs and stuff too, if there’s a long line I park and walk in.
I remember a lot of people...
Hey guys. I believe this is a very funny issue now that I think about it. My coolant leak. I figured it was a hose clamp or something so I kept moving it around and tightening it. Nothing helped. What I realized, was the dang petcock on the radiator was stripped somehow and as I drove it would...
The only thing that I kinda like is in the morning I feel a little less tired and the sunlight being out already helps me not want to quit my job and sleep. I’m still a teenager….. just pretty passionate about affording stuff.
Today I pulled the caps off and did o rings. Fixed that leak. But it was still dumping diesel on the ground. My favorite part about daylight savings is that when I get home from work around 4:30 it’s already getting dark so I can’t see ****. Grabbed a light and realized that the bottom of the...
Pulled into work and noticed that I was dumping oil/diesel everywhere. Once I got home I saw that somehow the rear most valve cover bolts were loose on the passenger side. Fixed the oil. Then I started it and saw that a few of the return caps were pouring fuel. Cool. Then I turned it off and...
Got everything cleaned up. Took the cover off and found that the gears look fantastic. Got some seals and stuff coming now and we should be good. For a long time I’ve wanted to do disc brakes on the rear but I’ve read alot of mixed emotions so I guess I’ll just stick with drums.
Well actually we live right outside of Sacramento. My family has lots of property but my parents and I live in town. So we get to see the craziness too haha
Good evening/morning/afternoon. Whatever it is for you goons. Today I drove up to Sonora, about 2 hours from me, and bought a sterling 10.25 from a really cool guy who decided he’d sell it to me for like half of what he was wanting. Anyways, truck did awesome besides some nice vibrations from...
This morning I helped my grandad take out some old fence that we will be re doing. Then after that I took a lovely 4 hour drive. I enjoy this thing quite a lot.
