Good luck with the transmission issues. Show us some pics of your progress on the camper part, too, please.

    Factory Wire Colors

I'm not finding either name in the Engine Controls section. There's the Engine Temp Switch which controls the cold advance solenoid, colors GY/R and R/LG. Somehow I can't send the picture from my phone. In the instrument cluster section, I find a temp sensor. This picture I could send.

I have the '94 EVTM, I'll try to remember to look that up tonight.

@Hagan, how did you mount the projectors in the headlights?

    New 7.3 IDI Owner Here

I've been struggling with intermittent flashing "OFF" in my '94 E-350. I spent big bucks on an aftermarket transmission controller, and learned that the vehicle speed signal was dropping out, sending the OEM controller into limp mode, and causing the aftermarket to shift to first gear. I changed...

Don't let the wicks get too long, or they'll smoke, Goat. Get yourself some of those new-fangled carbide lights!

Is it a problem to have the positive and negative cables run side by side with no air gap?

For AC you absolutely want the two wires running side by side, as close as possible, to reduce impedance. It's a code requirement to have the hot legs and neutral in the same conduit. For DC it doesn't really matter.

    Arctic Ambulance

I do have some 30-06 AP for my Garand. Snow came late, but it came, and I've been messing about with studded tires and firewood and trying to get the area cleaned up for snow plowing. Much busy-ness, little progress.

    Speedo cable gear

My Little Blue Sport Truck has that same problem in its T-19. It's a ways down the list of projects, but now I know something to look for when I get to refreshing that truck, someday, maybe.

Need to replace drain plug on 1356 t-case. Galvanic corrosion?

Galvanized is better than plain steel, check your galvanic table.

It would work OK without a tank, but it'll air up that first tire faster with.

Mine is a Chinese clone of a Viaire 485. Sounds as if no one sees a problem with drilling the frame rails?

Planning to have the compressor in a compartment, to keep it cleaner. I figure I'll have a quick disconnect for the air line running to the tank, and an Anderson SB50 disconnect for the compressor, and be able to take it out and use it with another vehicle. Still waiting on a relay and pressure...

    Arctic Ambulance

I got a 5 gallon aluminum air tank, to add an air compressor. It'd probably be easier to fix the slow leak in the inboard left dual tire, but here I go anyway... It looks as if there's room to mount the tank on the side of the frame amidships. That will mean drilling 4 holes through the side of...

Now that it's light I went out and looked. The springs seem to be pretty flat. They slope down toward the front. The rear eye is 22" above the ground, the front eye is 15" above ground. They are obscured by the frame from the inside, and most of the middle is obscured by the tires from the...

Best location for E4OD temp sensor?

Looks like the stock location is in the valve body, so that's probably measuring pretty close to pan temperature? There's one answer to where to put the sensor.

Best location for E4OD temp sensor?

Does anyone know where the e40d internal sensor is measuring? My aftermarket shift controller reports the temp from the internal sensor.

    Speedo cable gear

Fewer teeth to slow the speedo? Say there's 30 teeth on the driving gear in the transmission. A 10 tooth gear on the cable makes three revolutions when the driving gear makes one. A 15 tooth gear makes two revolutions when the driving gear makes one. Don't you need more teeth on the speedo...

Is yours a box truck/ambulance, or a regular van? MG Metalworks sells a 2wd lift kit for these econolines. Bent I beams and longer radius arms up front, suitable springs all around and so on. If I ever change springs on this rig, I'll seriously consider going that route.

I'll check tomorrow. From memory, there is reverse curve. Here is a photo I found on my phone, doesn't really show the curve.

Need to replace drain plug on 1356 t-case. Galvanic corrosion?

Epoxy doesn't handle heat well. Heat that plug a bit with a torch and it'll come right out. Heat the magnesium enough and you can have a Class D fire, for extra excitement!

Need to replace drain plug on 1356 t-case. Galvanic corrosion?

There is potentially salt and water on the outside of the gear case, so I guess there is potential for galvanic corrosion. I wouldn't use a brass plug in an aluminum or magnesium case. Steel is going to be less damaging if there is any galvanic action. Some thread dope might help, can't hurt.
