    Arctic Ambulance

I got the cooktop installed. I cut into the counter on the drivers side, and found there were two layers. The countertop is nonmagnetic stainless, and the compartment below is a separate box, made of aluminum, of course. So, I cut into the counter with a sawzall and grinder. Then I cut into...

Removing cylinder head / engine removal

It's not hard to pull the engine, so I haven't tried doing the heads without. A couple hours to pull the engine, a couple hours to put it back, and the engine work is easy. Edited to add: don't forget to remove the return line from the back of the engine!!!

    7.3 idi ambulance advice.

I have a '94 Road Rescue. Access to the front of the engine is miserable. Mine has a single alternator, haven't had to look into changing it yet. Odds are decent your machine has the alternator in the stock location, may have the Ford Ambulance package alt. Try you toob university, look for...

    Arctic Ambulance

Today I finished installing the transmission oil cooler and the thermal bypass. This is way larger than the original. I did have to remove the black plastic frame to make room to squeeze in the new monster cooler. Fortunately it comes off easily. There are these two little bolts on each side...

    Arctic Ambulance

I got a TruCool Max LPD4739, It's huge! I'm going to have to modify the grill supports to fit it in. The fins are paper thin, and very fragile. Here's the stock cooler: There's a lot of plastic in the front clip of these vans. The headlight buckets and grill support are one piece heavy...

    Arctic Ambulance

I have made a very little progress on the camper conversion. I got the divided queen mattress, had to have it special made. Mu daughter and son in law used it for a trip down to Mt Mckinley, and said it worked fine for them. I also got a propane stove to set into the top of the middle...

    1990 7.3 E4OD issues.

The expensive fix would be a USShift controller. That bypasses all the issues outside the transmission itself.

So what did you do with your truck today?

A saturated salt solution with ice will reach 0F. Boiling water will reach 212F at sea level. You can check the calibration of your thermometer with those.

So what did you do with your truck today?

@JesusFreak, I have an old friend who must have half a dozen of those old Honda three wheelers down in Homer. I can remember when those were the new hotness, and people were riding Honda 90s from Cold Bay to King Cove.

So what did you do with your truck today?

It does keep me out of the bars. I won't drive drunk, my wife doesn't want to drive me to drink, so I guess the bars wouldn't work out anyway.

Trans oil cooler and bypass questions for van

Gross weight is just shy of 12,000 pounds, and I figure it'll never be way below that.

So what did you do with your truck today?

I thought I was in a bad way with my '94 project. I think it was only 5 years ago I lost momentum on that one.

Trans oil cooler and bypass questions for van

We have some long, hard climbs here, Thompson Pass is 2,600 feet in about 15 miles, for example. I'd like to be able to roar up out of there on a hot day with no worries.

Definitely through the radiator, too! In winter the trans needs all the heat I can give it.

Trans oil cooler and bypass questions for van

Transmission temps on my ambulance hit 200F coming back toward Fairbanks. I'm thinking of replacing the current, small external oil cooler with a TruCool Max LPD4739, with a thermal bypass. Anyone have any recent experience with the TruCool coolers or their thermal bypass?
