So what did you do with your truck today?

There's an Opti-Lube dealer at 3610 Schacht St, Fairbanks, Alaska, barely 100 miles away. I should try a gallon next shopping trip.

Is this a 6.9 injection pump?

BTW, "the truck" I mention above is a nasty, rusty old '83 F250 flatbed I gave to my youngest, because it runs and she absolutely, positively HAD to have a truck. She was looking at $20k newer gassers. Giving her this scratched that itch, so I saved her $20K. She may actually use it: she's put...

Is this a 6.9 injection pump?

That's the conclusion I came to, also: probably-maybe. I gather they used the 0,29 plungers instead of the 0.31, so Wes doesn't want them for hot-rodding. Too bad, I was hoping I could sell it to him. I'll probably try to get it rebuilt and stick it in a second string truck someday.

    Batteries

Solder is one way to get an airtight connection. If it gets hot, it melts and you lose the connection. Plenty of Inox and a solid crimp is another way to get an airtight connection.

Is this a 6.9 injection pump?

I bought a truck, and it came with some engines and an injection pump. I'm trying to figure out if it's potentially a core for a rebuild. It has a rebuilder's nameplate on it, and the model is given as DB2-4369. From the last 4 digits I'm guessing it's from a 6.9. That's sensible because the...

    Self regulating glow plugs

I'll have to try some more stores, I guess. I've never found yellow bullet wire connectors where I usually shop, just red and blue. It'd be nice to find some yellows with built in shrink tubing.

So it is, and it looks right. https://www.sparkplugs.com/bosch-0250202126-80034-glow-plug The 80024 has a bullet terminal, but it looks wrong https://www.sparkplugs.com/bosch-80024-f01g09p2a4-glow-plug

Does anyone have a source for replacement bullet connectors, to go with the 80034?

    Self regulating glow plugs

Jammed those expensive ZD28s into my daughter's '83 and it started right up. The PO had used Autolite plugs. One had 33 Ohms resistance, five had swelled and burst open, two broke off in the hole. The old spade-style connectors are holding up great, unlike the bullet connectors on most of my...

    Self regulating glow plugs

I just bought some probably-genuine ZD28, supposed to be the replacement for discontinued ZD1. $17 each! I think the next round of replacements will be the Bosch for that truck. Probably-genuine ZD9s are only $10 each, but they use the bullet connectors... The bullet connectors are a pain, the...

    Keep cracking heads

Is it possible for the top of the block to be slightly off, somehow not flat, on that side? I've never thought to check the deck on a block with a straightedge.

    F700 Hood Latch Handle ?

I have been slowly replacing the in-cab hood releases with a nice pull handle routed out near the headlight. So far haven't had to mess with the handle for the secondary latch. I make the pull handle with some 3/32nd aircraft cable, make an eye on the end with 6" of fuel line, stick the other...

    F700 Hood Latch Handle ?

Do you have a picture of that latch handle? I have no idea what you're talking about. Like Goat, I'm picturing a rubber latch.

I just noticed there are loads of cheap zd9 glowplugs on ebay

Chinese factories will send the very lowest quality the buyer will accept, and will try to cheat at that. If you aren't inspecting it, they aren't doing it. If you will reject a lot with N deficiencies, they will aim for N-1 deficiencies in every lot, and try to bribe your inspector to accept...

I just noticed there are loads of cheap zd9 glowplugs on ebay

I agree with cubey, don't want to encourage the fakers. From that linked article, the OP says that the real Motorcraft GP has a hex crimp near the top, and the fakes have a circle there. The several ebay offerings I looked at had the circle. It also says that real Motorcraft parts bags have a...

Jesus Freak, what kind of tests would you suggest if I take a flier on them?

I just noticed there are loads of cheap zd9 glowplugs on ebay

There're in Motorcraft packaging, some even claim they're genuine. $40/8-pack, free shipping. Do we have any reason to think they aren't bogus?

So what did you do with your truck today?

I drove down Cummins Road and brought back an '88 crew cab flatbed. It takes about an hour to drive 15 miles down the washboard on that road. Had to ford a stream that had washed out the road about 5 miles in. It was about axle deep. I brought it back on the trailer behind my old green plow...

Batteries 100% drained dead - new problem

The only thing I'd do differently than beastmaster would be to start by pulling all the fuses. If that turns off the test light, then plug them back in one at a time until the test light comes back on.

Previous difficult cold start > Now it seems like not getting fuel and won't start at all

I would give serious thought to putting a fuel shutoff switch on the dash, running a wire from the battery to it, then from the switch to the FSS. Flip the switch in the cab to turn on the fuel, flip it off when you're done. I like a pushbutton on the dash for the starter, too.

Power glow plugs thru a switch straight from the battery?

Another option would be to abandon the existing relay in place, and install a heavy duty relay where you can reach it, light gauge control wiring runs to the dash, heavy gauge power from the battery through the relay then to the glowplugs. I would put it on the driver side, and pull power from...

Put both switches in series so that both must be closed to power the pump.

    Return cap o-rings local source?

McMaster Carr wanted $100++ to ship that 50 pack of viton orings to Alaska. They don't get much business from me.
