You can also look for a diesel zf s5-42 with a 5.72 first gear. Yes they did make them. My dad had one in his dually. The lower first gear also gives you the lower reverse gear. Another thing the 460 zfs came with the lower geared version. Many have modded it to fit the diesel. I know...
I'm definitely intrigued by this electric fan clutch stuff. Things were turning in my head and I came across this controller. Do you think it would fit the bill? If I'm honest I'm new to the whole PWM stuff. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hda-3655 or I found these which look to be a much...
I'd say run it then. I can't remember the exact specs on the stock Hypermax turbo, but I believe they were around a 57mm inducer. Don't quote me on that though. If you install it and decide you want a quicker spool up there are tighter exhaust housings available. And yes typ4 does have the...
They Hypermax turbos for our trucks use a 1.15 exhaust housing so I dont see that as a problem. A little tighter does help if you want quicker spool though. What are the specs on the turbo? Specifically what is the inducer size on the compressor wheel?
I'm planning on reistalling my visor, reinstalling my bull moose, getting the egt gauge fixed up, installing mud flaps, redoing the pickup in my 38gal rear tank, painting misc brackets I made, and the list goes on and on, haha!
Yep, easy to do if you have a bw1356 transfer case. Like was said hardest part is pulling the drive shaft. I'v never had to drain the oil. Just a funky clip holds it on to the output shaft too.
Long bed trucks had 19 gallon tanks front and rear. That being said I think the rear one listed as an 18 is interchangeable with the 19. Probally just a slightly different stamping. All trucks had a 19 gallon rear tank stock.
You can use any programable timing light. I have a Mac one I use with my ferrett pulse adapter, but pretty much any of the digital ones work. The sensor clamps on the no. 1 injection line. You'll have to shine it up with some emory cloth first. Also just so you know they get timed at exactly...
All sounds like good ideas to me. I'd be up for the caverns, go-karts, speedway, and truck pulls most of all. I have been wanting to get my truck timed at the drag strip
Yeah I'm running out of real estate for more gauges without it starting to look like a cockpit, lol! Not gonna lie I contemplated putting an exhaust back pressure gauge in the glove box so I could see it when I wanted and hide it when I didn't.
I'm actually curious what the exhaust back pressure is. I'v thought of putting a gauge in just to see if my new system is as efficient as I hope. I realize you'll never get a 1:1 boost to back pressure ratio, but the closer the better. I'm also curious what your pressure drop is too from one...
Not sure if the a/r from a t3 mount to a t4 mount is comparable. I think I remember hearing that a t3 of the same a/r was actually a little tighter when compared to a t4. I could be wrong though. I also wonder if the twin scroll housing is what helps Elijah to have similar boost as you do even...
@laserjock I'd say my boost numbers are higher due to it being non-intercooled. I think Elijah has similar boost numbers to you with his intercooler. Mine is a .89 a/r divided t4 exhaust housing. There are still a number of things I want to tweak on it this spring. I just feel like there is more...
I was surprised how low my egts are even with being non-intercooled yet. That's why I feel there is lots of room to grow especially if I can get more fuel to it. That being said I haven't towed with it much yet so that will be the true test.
I have a 100cc pump, but I'm not sure how many miles are on it since I bought it used. I'm also non-intercooled yet at this point. I feel like there is room to grow with this turbo yet. Eventually I'd like to intercool and I'd like to try some water/methanol too at some point.
