Good points, I'm not getting grinding. Never had the issue before hand either, only after I added a qt of trans fluid. It simply won't allow me to go in gear, no grinding of anything. It won't even go in until I go below 20mph. It's annoying but something I can live with. Waiting for a boot...
Here's my update from the 40 mile work commute.
Everything upshifts good. When downshifting I cannot go into second gear going over 20mph. Soon as I'm at 20mph I can downshift

Took for a test drive, drove good and shifted very smoothly. On my way into the drive way though it absolutely refused to go in 1st/2nd gear. As soon as I parked and turned engine off it went into gear. Well...... tomorrow I drive to work and can experiment more. This sure is annoying...
I just added a quart from the top without removing it. There IS GRIME inside it unfortunately, and I'm worried how much is in the transmission already.
So, I added a quart because I know I'm low to play it safe. Then I'm ordering a shift boot kit and will replace the bushings and grommet while...
Quite filthy and seems likely this is the source of leak. When I pour the ATF in, can I pour it right into this hole? Or do I need to pull something else off to fill it from the top?
Anyone have part numbers? These are nasty and broken, do these hold transmission fluid...
Howdy y'all!
As per title, my transmission is leaking from up top some where. It comes down the passager side. Started shifting hard so I'm changing the fluid today with Motorcraft Mercon V. I'd rather use Redline MT-90 but not going to put expensive **** in the trans just for it too leak...
Rodger, I got two vehicles, my other being a 1995 F150. The funny thing is the transmission went out the week before my IP started acting up.:frustrate Hoping to get it in the shop in a couple weeks but need my IDI as a daily until then. I do about 400 miles a week. Running it through ATF again...
I got plenty of onions. Probably gonna soak it in ATF again. I really think I got dry diesel. No problem until I filled up. Work pays for diesel now so I had stopped running on ATF for a while. Probably going to go back on it to line things up.

Well durn!
The truck started acting up again today! Running off the same tank of diesel I got from a CEFECO.l when it initially died. They swear it's clean fuel and to spec. I'm wondering if I got bad fuel or if the diesel is to dry.

After the ATF treatment for 48 hours, wow.
It actually worked, it seems to be problem free. Ran it hard at 100mph for several minutes. The exhaust sounds deeper and puffs smoke. My blow by which was none existent is absolutely awful now. I'm guessing there was a LOT of carbon on the rings which...
I'm having the same issue. ATF trick didn't work overnight. I've had it sitting for 48 hours so far....just gonna have it wit in ATF for a ling while.

After the ATF treatment;
Had to start with a gas rag, really hard to start. Ran for a minute, then died. Lots of grey smoke, a lot. Didn't restart. Instead of making it better the ATF made it worse. Darn.

Upon recollection, I didn't have issues until I got 25 gallons of diesel yesterday at a CEFECO. I called and they said to speak to the manager in the morning. I don't know what they can do or if I got bad fuel from them. It ran like a top prior to that though. I doubt they'd do anything though...
I just tried running it off a gallon of ATF. I hard cut the fuel lines. It ran off it for a couple minutes then died on its own at idle:confused:
Going to attempt restarting it. If not I'll just let it sit overnight. Hopefully it'll start in the morning, but if it won't start now I feel like it...
Fuel system is 100% redone from IP to tank. E-fuel pump. Drive it 100 miles a day past two weeks. Air intrusion at the injector caps? It started doing this in my return trip home.
Thanks,

Already changed it. I'm going to do the ATF trick next. Nothing else I can really do...

Well it's an unfortunate day. When ever the engine is brought down from RPM it dies. I have fuel pressure. It used to only do this in cold weather on start up. I was told that not abnormal for IDI. Today when I let my foot off the accelerator on the highway the engine...
That's great to know. I've read similar things. The injectors sure are pricy, I'm seeing about $400 per an injector. I don't know a good source of parts for these engines though. Seems like there's no performance shop that deals with them exclusively. I'm itching for a project. I have access to...
